UDRS Rejected by India While the World Voices its Advantage

Posted: 06 Jan 2011 05:01 AM PST

Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS) has been rejected by the Indian cricket team and above that the team has also straightly voiced that it will not go to Australia to witness its live application in The Ashes.

The blare of this technology is on a rise because of its accuracy but India has clearly rejected this application saying that the tool is not goods enough in terms of accuracy.

The recent series the Indian cricket team played against New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. The secretary of Cricket Council in India said that there were no chances at all that the team would agree to this technology.

The team is not convinced with this technology and will hence not use it in any bilateral games too. BCCI could not be diverted by the South Africa cricket about the use of UDRS and this made Graeme Smith the captain of SA quite upset about the rejection of this system who considers that UDRS should become mandatory from the ICC.

Smith after loosing the match against India in Durban expressed his annoyance about the lack of UDRS in the match and said that it is the responsibility of ICC to pave the way for the usage of this system.

This view was also shared by Michael Clarke the captain of Australia cricket team who felt that this system is absolutely accurate but there are some people who do not want to follow the right way. BCCI is so certain that this system is useless that it turned down the offer to see the system in function during the Ashes.

New Orleans Saints to suffer the IR shift of Thomas and Ivory

Posted: 06 Jan 2011 03:12 AM PST

New Orleans Saints the champ of Super Bowl in the defending spot have missed out on their top two backs after Pierre Thomas the second back was placed into the injured reserve on Wednesday while Chris Ivory the rusher of New Orleans has already been transferred to the same on Tuesday.

This loss will definitely make it difficult for the team to repeat without their leading players. The shifting of Thomas to the IR came just a day after Ivory was transferred to the reserve.

This shift officially marked an end to the season of Thomas that was plagued with bad physical injuries having taken a nagging form affecting his play.

2010 shortened campaign had Thomas playing 269 yards; rushing almost 83 times along with 2 TD's and contests standing 6 in number.

This season Thomas also had 29 grabs for a space of 201 yards. In order to fill the missing spot the team had to sign up Joique Bell from the practice squad of the Eagles in order to fill the roster.

In place of Chris Ivory the Orleans have taken up De Shawn Wynn back again on Tuesday to occupy the roster spot.

During the postseason the Saints with stats of (11-5) will stand against Seattle Seahawks with two regular players missing from the roster leaving behind just three running backs in a fit form.

The winning pressure will be on the shoulder of Reggie Bush, Julius Jones and Wynn who are actually the only three people left from the old slot.

[Preview] South Africa vs India Day 5: Both The Teams Will Have To Play Seriously Out of Sleeves today

Posted: 05 Jan 2011 10:38 PM PST

Day 4 of Cape Town's decisive test between India and South Africa is over now. Like previous 3 days of this test today's day was also equally donated by bat and ball. Just like first and second day today's day also belongs to Jacques Kallis of South Africa.

On first two days Kallis worked hard and scored a wonderful century of 161 runs that brought South Africa back in the game. Even today everyone struggled apart from Kallis. Once again Kallis stood firm and scored indispensible century of 109 runs for his country.

On the other hand in terms of bowling if Sreesanth became the highest wicket taker by taking 5 wickets so this time Harbhajan Singh got pocketed 7 wickets for the team. So al in all this test match once again remained a perfect blend of equal domination by bat and ball.

So far this test match has been a perfect contest to watch for real test match lovers.

Now Indian team has finished South African Innings at 341 runs. So in this way Indian team has the daunting task of 340 runs to win the test match as well as series.

For winning the test match Indian team mostly depends upon the shoulders of Virender Sehwag. If Indian team gets blazing start from terh merciless blade of Sehwag so players like Gambhir, Tendulkar, Dravid, VVS Laxman, Raina, Pujara and skipper Dhoni can easily win the match for the team.

But in order to secure a win here team India will have to be careful for first one hour of the morning as the ball is swinging, spinning, bouncing and keeping low as well on some occasions.

So if indian openers can deny their wickets to South African team for one or two ours then bouth Sehwag and Gambhir can play their natural games.  But at the same time they will have to make sure that South African bowlers do not get many wickets early in the innings because South Africa also has the bowlers like Morne Morkel, Tsotsobe Dale Styen, Jaques Kallis and Paul Harris who can take the game away from Indian team.

On the other hand Sotuh African bowlers will also have to make it sure that indian team does not get good start because this pitch is getting better for batting. Innings played by Kallis and Boucher are the testimonies of it.

Moreover Indian team also has players like Sachin Tendulkar, Dravid, VVS Laxman, Raina, Dhoni, Pujara who can take the game away from South Africa in no time.

But that does not mean Indians can relax because South African fast bowlers will surely try serious short stuff for Indian batsmen. To it to add to the woes of Indian team ball is keeping low as well.

So Paul Harris will have a vital role to play for South Africa. So today's day is going to be very crucial in the context of this test series between for both the teams.

So fans just hold your fast beating hearts in your hands and sit back in front of your TV sets to watch this nail biting finish of the test series between India VS South Africa and also do not forget to pray for the victory of your favorite team in front of God. Moreover, It will be interesting to see How South Africa and India perform today..

[Scorecard] SA vs Ind 3rd Test Day 4: South Africa Sets The Target of 340 for India

Posted: 05 Jan 2011 09:14 AM PST

South Africa vs India After putting South Africa on back foot on day 3 team India needed to restrict South African Team to a gettable target. In the morning Indian team started on positive note. There was everything like Swing, Seam and Bounce for fast bowlers.

Indian fast bowlers just needed to put the ball in just right areas and bowl at right line and length. In the morning Indian fast bowlers bowled well but could not earn wickets for the team.

Perhaps this forced Captain Dhoni to bring Turbnator Harbhajan Singh on the attack early in the morning.

After being brought to attack Even Harbhjan Singh did not disappoint his captain as he gave two big jolt to South Africa in the form of in form batsman Hashim Amla.

He did not stop here only as he gave another big blow soon to South Africa in the shape of Alviro Petersen.  This left South Africa searching for some oxygen to survive in the match. All In all in the morning session South Africa was reeling under Harbhajan wave.

Amla could not do much damage to Indian team and got out only on 2 runs whereas his teammate scored only 22 runs.

South Africa had not recovered properly so far when Indian bowling spearhead Zaheer Khan also got into action and removed AB De Villiers on 13 runs. Removal of De Villiers left South Africa reeling at 130/6. It seemed as if South Africa will be bowled out below 200 runs.

But after the fall of De Villiers he Mark Boucher Joined Jacques Kallis on the crease and changed the whole scenario of the game. Boucher and Kallis added 103 runs for 7th wicket.

Boucher was looking all set for wonderful century but Indian captain moved out of sleeves and enticed Boucher by calling Sachin Tendulkar to bowl. This move bore Indian team fruit as Sachin Tendulkar soon Caught Boucher in front of stumps at 55 runs.

On the other end Jacques Kallis kept on playing and completed his century with the support of Tail Enders Morne Morkel and Dale Styen. Dale Styen scored 32 runs and hit 2 bouindaies and 1 six whereas Morne Morkel made 28 runs and helped Kallis in providing respectability to the total. Both Morkel and Styen got removed by Harbhajan Singh.

By removing Morkel and Styen Harbhajan Singh completed his five wickets Haul.  Soon after this he removed Lonwabo Tsotsobe and ended South African Innings at 341 runs. But Kallis remained not out on 109 runs. He hit 8 beautiful fours in his wonderful innings.

In this way South Africa has set the target of 340 runs to win the match In Front of team India.

When it seemed South Africa will bat on day 5 as well only then Tsotsobe went for a big shot on the last ball of the day's play and Sehwag took a great catch on the boundary line to end South African Innings.

For team India Harbhajan Singh bowled his heart out and got 7 wickets under his belt in 38 overs at the cost of 120 runs. On the other end Ishant Sharma, Zaheer Khan and Sachin Tendulkar got one wicket each.

Shoaib Malik questions his Dropping from the World cup Prelim Team

Posted: 05 Jan 2011 02:41 AM PST

Shoaib Malik the Pakistani cricketer who has been secluded from the cricket grounds will not be a part of the World Cup in 2011 squad that has been picked on the preliminary bases but Malik has made it very clear that soon he will be seen on the international fields soon marking his comeback.

Talking about this Malik said that it has been very disappointing to not be able to play in the World Cup that too without a reason behind this avoidance.

Malik said that the Pakistani cricket board and the selection board have been avoiding him but they have not mentioned the reason behind this attitude. On Tuesday the board of selectors informed that Malik was not picked in the squad of 30 members that have been preliminarily selected to play in the World cup this year from the side of Pakistan.

Malik showed his doubts and annoyance with the fact that even though he is performing well and is perfectly fine but his not being picked is a big question indeed.

Malik conveyed that not being a part of the World Cup is truly going to be a bad thing on the whole but this does not mark an end to his career and he can definitely go ahead and play for the coming years and hence once again get the opportunity of being a part of the world cup.

The Pakistani Cricket Board has doubts about players like Malik, Kamran Akmal, Danish Kaneria and Rana Naved. Following this they have made enquiries about their credits and bank accounts for further information. Moreover before the selection was done the board advised the ICC to completely ignore Malik and Kaneria and try avoiding Kamran and Naved in the selections.

Somdev Devvarman vs. David Goffin marks defeat for the former

Posted: 05 Jan 2011 12:25 AM PST

The Indian singles challenge of Chennai Open came to an end on Tuesday as Somdev Devvarman the countries No.1 lost the game to David Goffin the qualifier of Belgian in straight sets.

The first ever match of ATP Tour had Goffin scoring 6-2, 6-4 for 86 minute win against Stanislaus Wawrinka in the round two. Rohan Bopanna tamed by Wawrinka had 6-4, 6-4 score in the second set victory. Yuki Bhambri the singles entrant through the wild card had an opening score of 2-6, 1-6 with the loss against Alexandre Kudryatsev from Russia.

This was altogether a bad day for the country in the world of tennis. Robin Haase from Netherlands defeated Frank Dancevic with a score of 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-4 to get the most from the behind hits.

Alejandro Falla of Columbia won over Rui Machado from Portugal with a score of 7-5, 6-3. Devvarman was the central focus of the tournament as the 25 year old player was void of opportunities during the first set played against the Belgian.

David Goffin who is virtually unknown with a world rank of 228 put up a better game as he had better returns from the services in place of Somdev who is recognized for his sharp and aggressive tennis moves.

Somdev reached the best of his career in October when he ranked 94 while he was on 106. But this game has given a better ranking opportunity to the Belgian after Somdev did not play well. During the second set Somdev tried to take control but to no avail marking his defeat.

[Live Score] South Africa vs India [Ind vs SA] 3rd Test Match Day 4: Morning Session is Going To Be Highly Crucial For Both The Teams

Posted: 04 Jan 2011 11:40 PM PST

india vs south africa

The decisive battle between Team India and South Africa is going on in Newlands of Cape Town. So far both the teams have played wonderfully in the test match. But most importantly this decisive test match has been dominated by the bowlers of both the teams.

But at the same time batsmen of both the teams have also not left no stone untouched in order to put their teams in commanding position. So all in all this test match has been a perfect blend of dominance of bat and ball.

Now the play of day 3 is over. This day has been dominated by both bat and ball equally. In this way This test match is turning out to be a great contest to watch. Now South African team is reeling at 52/2 owing to brisk double strike by Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. This timely double strike has balanced the match wonderfully.

So owing to this still no one can predict the winner of this match easily. South Africa will now have to be very watchful against Harbhajan Singh as the pitch is assisting the bowlers. On day 4 it is once again expected to assist the bowlers. Spinners are expected to play vital role in this match now.

The two balls that dismissed Smith and Harris testify it loudly that the ball is surely going to move. As a result of it batsmen will really have to bat out of their sleeves in order to score runs.

For South Africa in form Hasshim Amla and Alviro Petersen are still on the crease. Both of them will have to watch out for first 2 hours of the morning because in the morning the ball is likely to swing and seam. Indian team has the bowlers in the shape of Sreesanth, Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan who can make best use of Swing and Seam.

At the same time South African batsmen will have to be careful against Harbhajan Singh also. He has got the ball to spin and come in to the batsman briskly. But apart from all this South African team also has firepower in their batting depth in the form of Kallis, Amla, Petersen, Boucher, De Villiers and Prince who can take the game away from Indian team in no time.

So for team India first hour is going to be crucial on day four when the ball will swing and seam nicely. But at the same time South African team will also have to make sure that Indian team does not get too many wickets in the first hour.

So guys this test match is turning out to be a nail biter. This test match is now evenly balanced. From here this test match can go in the favor of any team. In order win this test match tomorrow at Newlands of Cape Town both the teams are going to give their best shot for their teams.

So everyone I have got my fingers crossed and I suggest you all also to take your heart in your hands and sit back in front of your TV sets and watch this nail biter between ICC World No.1 Test Team India and Super Talent South Africa.
