Nashville, TN, United States (AHN) – Vince Young, placed on injured reserve Tuesday, was reportedly asked to leave the Titans team facility.

Young showed up to the team’s facility Monday and was asked to leave by a team official, the Tennessean reported.

The 27-year-old Young, the Titans’ third overall draft pick in the 2006 NFL draft, left without incident but was visibly upset, according to the same report.

In a statement Tuesday, the Titans disputed the report that Young is not welcome at the team’s practice facility following his outburst after Sunday’s overtime loss to the Redskins.

According to the Titans, the two-time Pro Bowl selection was told by a coach not to attend a meeting Monday so that the team could discuss his situation and decide how to move forward.

“Players that are on injured reserve are not required to attend team meetings. As of today, he has been placed on injured reserve and all the same rules apply to him as to any other player in that category,” the statement said.

The incident is the latest in the saga between the Titans’ marquee player and Fisher.

Fisher indicated Sunday that Young would be relieved of his starting duties for the rest of the season regardless of the status of his thumb injury, sustained during the contest against the Redskins.

It stemmed from Sunday’s outbursts by Young, who was not allowed to re-enter the game resulting into his dissension.

Young, who sustained a torn flexor tendon in his thumb late in the third quarter of Sunday’s 19-16 loss to Washington, had a heated exchange with Fisher in the locker room after the quarterback tossed his pads into the crowd.

Fans Pay To See Pacman; PPV Soars Past 1 Million Buys

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 04:55 PM PST

Jojo Doria – AHN Sports Contributor

NY, NY, United States (AHN) – Apart from winning a record eighth world title, Manny Pacquiao also matched the record in pay-per-view history following his demolition of Antonio Margarito on Nov. 13 at Cowboys Stadium.

That bout, put together after the second negotiations for a much- awaited clash between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. failed, generated at least 1.15 million buys and $64 million domestic pay-per-view revenue.

As a result, the Filipino boxing icon was able to match former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson as the only fighter in pay-per-view history to generate at least 1 million buys for a bout in three consecutive years.

In 2008, Pacquiao sent Oscar De La Hoyt into retirement following an eighth round dismantling, generating 1.25 million buys.

Pacquiao also breached the 1 million mark in 2009 when he toppled Miguel Cotto via a 12th-round knockout. That fight resulted in 1.2 million buys

Pacquiao, elected as representative of his hometown province of Sarangani in the Philippine Congress, has generated more than a million buys in each of his last five fights.

According to HBO, the numbers from the Pacquiao-Margarito fight was only an initial figure and will likely rise once the buys are fully accounted for.

Ind vs NZ: Dhoni And Vettori – Dravid’s Marathon Innings Was The Biggest Turning Point

Dhoni-Vettori

Team India has registered a thumping win by an innings and 198 runs over New Zealand in the 3rd and last test match couple of days ago. At this defeat New Zealand Captain Mr. Daniel Vettori believes that Indian team has won the series not only because we did not play to our potential in the last test match of the series but also because Indian team played like champions.

Team India started dominating the match right from the word go. We needed a good start after winning the toss and electing to bat first but Indian bowlers did not let it happen in both the innings.  We lost the momentum right at the commencement of the game by losing our entire too order on just 51 runs. In this way got got all out on paltry 193 runs and got pushed back on back foot to large extent.

In addition to it Vettori also believes that Indian batsmen were also responsible for beating us because players like Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Sachin and Dhoni did wonderful job with bat and pushed us completely on back foot. More importantly players like Gambhir and Dravid also got back in form just when we did not want them to get their form back. Gambhir made crucial 78 runs. But innings of 191 runs by the Wall of India was crucial point of the match.

If we have lost the match so it is only because our players got exhausted owing to the marathon innings of Rahul Dravid. He irritated our bowlers and rest of the team. When we got rid of him by that time it had got too late and he had done his job perfectly. The Wall stood Tall just at the right time for Indian team, Says Daniel Vettori.

At being asked about the victory by team India Indian skipper Mahender Singh Dhoni also gave credit to the team effort put by the team. He especially praised the Great Wall of India for Standing Rock Solid as per his reputation playing a marathon innings of 191 runs just when the doctor ordered.

Dhoni said that Rahul Dravid played vital role in this victory because we needed someone to bat throughout the innings. Nobody could do it better than Rahul Dravid as he has done it many a times in the past too. He is renowned for playing waiting as well as long game. He can bat for many and many days.

Moreover, he said that Dravid is a real gem for Indian team and we are lucky to have glittering diamond like him in the team.

Asian Games: Mary Kom loses

Mary Kom

It was quite shocking after watching the performance of Mary Kom at the Asian Games today. She had around 5 world titles in her kitty to boast about and is already a Khel Ratna awardee but things surely not fine with the little lass today.

She was defeated by Chinese wrestler Ren Cancan with a miserable score of 11-7. It was quite evident that Mary Kom had a lot many things running in her mind while she was struggling with her opponent. First of all, her head gear posed a major problem to her as she struggles all throughout her way in adjusting it. But she truly was a fighter.

The day was quite jinxed for the 5 feet 2 inches wrestler as her opponent was 5 feet 6 inches, she remained petite to her. Cancan even weighed more than her. Mary weighs just 48 kgs. Then if sources are to be believed, both the referees of the game, somewhat biased with her opponent, which played a crucial role in her defeat and Cancan's victory.

Mary got frustrated when she saw that the referee was turning a blind eye to Cancan's ploy and was issuing numerous warnings to Kom whenever she tried to hit.

“I had my punches ready for her (opponent) but I had no answer for her holding tactics,” Mary told TOI when contacted.

“I tried everything, but more than punching, my opponent was running around the ring. I had to get inside and connect but at the end of the day I think it was not enough,” said Mary.

Mary's most practised and lethal weapon the left hook did not help too much either as the opponent was way too taller than her. She could not reach to her.

So overall, the day proved quite dismal for women's wrestling. Kom's poor height, the failed left hook and the loose head gear proved to be the losing grounds.

But it was mainly the referees' strange bias to Cancan which took away the match from her. Guess, that's the benefit to be the host!

El Segundo, CA, United States (AHN) – Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest is going to get some career advice from Terrell Owens.

According to the Orange County Register, Artest revealed Monday one of the NFL players with whom he has talked about his possible post-NBA football career is Terrell Owens.

Artest said Owens will help determine whether “I’m crazy or I have a legitimate shot.”

Artest said Friday night the football players laughed at him, but on Monday afternoon Artest said Owens was nice enough to consult with Artest on the matter this offseason and make a gauge.

Artest’s tentative plan is to play tight end and he said Owens would give him input as to whether the plan was logical or another position was better.

Artest said San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, who played basketball at Kent State before going on to NFL stardom, is “definitely a big inspiration.”

Gates was signed by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2003.

Basketball Union Head Billy Hunter Says NBA Lockout Likely

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 10:07 AM PST

AHN Sports Staff

NY, NY, United States (AHN) – National Basketball Players Association executive Billy Hunter made a bold statement Tuesday, saying a lockout looks inevitable next season.

Hunter, 67, virtually guaranteed a work stoppage in 2011 unless NBA owners and officials change their stance on several labor issues, including player’s salaries and benefits.

“I’d be 99 percent sure as of today that there will be a lockout, Hunter told New York Times Monday.

Hunter stated he already advised players to start saving money in case a work stoppage happens next year.

The ongoing labor talks between union and league officials have not been making significant progress in recent months due to contrasting ideas of both sides.

One of which was the proposal of NBA commissioner David Stern to reduce player’s salaries and benefits by around 40 percent.

NBA owners also pushed for the implementation of shorter contracts, hard salary caps, less guaranteed contracts, and smaller annual raises.

However, the players are apparently not on the same page with the owners, as they demand a better proposal that would not compromise their salaries in coming seasons.

Hunter said the union and the league should settle their differences by February (in time for the All-Star break) to avert a looming lockout.

Hunter added the union allocated $175 million fund to assists players who will be heavily affected by the stoppage.
