Posted: 14 Sep 2010 10:06 PM PDT Mumbai Indians Vs South Australian Today Mumbai Indians Vs South Australia Redbacks clashed in the Champions league T20 2010 in South Africa. It was a second match for both the teams. This match was equally important for both the teams. After loosing their first match to Highveld Loins this match was a must win match for Mumbai Indians. On the other hands South Australia Redbacks walked into this game with a thumping win against Highveld Loins . South Australia Redbacks needed to win this match in order to move one more step ahead to get themselves into the semifinal of CLT20 2010. Today in the match Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and decided to bat first. But South Australian Redbacks bowlers refuted his decision completely. Mumbai Indians lost their way right from the beginning of the match. First of all Mumbai Indians did get off to a start that they desperately wanted. Then Mumbai Indians lost their first wicket on the last ball of the second over in the shape of opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan. When Shikhar Dhwan Cagot out at that time score of Mumbai Indians was only 6 runs. Shikhar Dhawan Made only 2 runs. Then Sachin TEndulkar and Ambati Rayudu got together and added 29 runs for the partnership of second wicket. So far Mumbai had only started recovering from the loss of Shikhar Dhwan but all of a sudden spinner O'Brien gave yet another big jolt to Mumbai Indians by removing Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar was looking very dangerous but he got slightly over ambitious. As a result he danced down the track and did not get to the pitch of the ball. So he missed the ball fully and the ball straightaway went on to hit the stumps. Before getting out Sachin Tendulkar made only 20 runs in 28 balls. His small innings was studied with 3 beautiful boundaries and 1 giant size six. After the fall of Sachin Tendulkar's wicket South African batsman Jean Paul Duminy came on the pitch and without troubling the scorers went back to the pavilion. JP Duminy made only 3 runs. So far Mumbai Indians were in all sorts of trouble. Now Mumbai Indians needed a partnership. Then came "blend of MS Dhoni and Bengal Tiger Sourav Ganguly" Sourav Tiwary. Now TIwary and Rayudu started doing the rescue job for Mumbai Indians So far the score of Mumbai Indians had got only 57 runs on the board and partnership had just started flourishing when Ambato Rayudu got out. Rayudu made well composed 38 runs. But flamboyant Sourabh Tiwari held one end very strongly. Initially in his innings he was bit slow but he fired all at once and hit 4 towering sixes in just over. That was the over perhaps Mumbai Indians needed to gain some momentum. On the other hand the man standing and waiting for his turn for Boom Boom was none other then powerhouse from Trinidad and Tobago Keiron Pollard. So far South Australian Redbacks had come under some pressure because Tiwary was tearing their bowling apart. But the situation got worst when powerhouse pollard also started blasting. After making awesome 44 runs studied with 4 towering sixes and 1 boundary in just 36 balls Tiwary lost his concentration and lost his wicket. When Sourabh Tiwari got the score of Mumbai Indians was 137 runs. After the departure of Sourabh Tiwari the Big man From Trinidad and Tobago took the change in his hands and blasted South Australian Redbacks bowlers single handedly. Pollard made 36 runs in 36 balls. His innings was studied with 4 boundaries. Then Bravo also got out on 22 runs. But by the time Mumbai Indians had got their desired target to win the match easily. In their allotted quota of 20 overs Mumbai Indians made 180 runs on the loss of 7 wickets. For Mumbai Indians Sourabh Sourabh Tiwari and Ambati Rauyudu and Pollard performed well with the bat. Rayudu made 38 runs and Towari Made 44 runs whereas Pollard made 36 runs. In this way Mumbai Indians managed to set the target of 181 runs to win the match for South Australian Redbacks. For south Australian Redbacks "O" Brien was the most successful bowler in terms of wickets. "O" Brien bowled 4 overs and took 2 wickets at the cost of 49 runs. On the other hand Tait, Christian, Putland and Bailey also bowled exceptionally well and got 1 wicket each. Although "O" Brien proved little expensive today but he got something that he can remember throughout his life. Something that he can share with everyone with proud. He got the price wicket of Cricket God, Batting Maestro and Master Blaster, SachinTendulkar. Now it was the turn of South Australian Redbacks to chase the target of 181 runs. South Australian Redbacks started very quietly. As a result required run rate started increasing manifolds. So south Australian Redbacks started giving charge to Mumbai Indians bowlers. As a result South Australian Redbacks batsman gave many chances to Mumbai Indians fielders for taking their wickets cheaply. But every time Mumbai Indians made a a big mess of every chance that they got. Buttered fingered Mumbai Indians dropped nearly 10 catches that is surely not going to win you match against such a strong batting line up. In addition to it Mumbai Indians were extremely shabby in terms of their ground fielding. Mumbai Indians misfielded many times and gave away boundaries and runs aimlessly. As a result South Australian Redbacks got a very strong foundation laid of 112 runs by opener Daniel Harris and Captain Klinger. When Mumbai Indians got their first wicket in the shape of Daniel Harris on the score of 112 runs in the shape of Daniel Harris who got out after making 56 runs in 57 balls, the game had almost slipped away from the hands of Mumbai Indians. But cricket is a game of uncertainty. So it turned out to be the fact here. Soon after the departure of Daniel Harris South Australian Redbacks lost the wicket of Captain Klinger also. Klinger made 50 runs in 62 balls. But all of a sudden South Australian Redbacks up the tempo. While doing so they lost the wickets of Manou, Ferguson and Christian. Manou made 12 runs and Ferguson made only 6 runs. On the other hand Christian made only 16 runs. Now the score of South Australian Redbacks was 158/5 in 18.2 overs. So far Mumbai Indians were looking in good position but Borgas and Cooper hit some gutsy strokes and got their team home in just 19.3 balls. In the victory of South Australian Redbacks instead of their great batting the school standard fielding of Mumbai Indians played very important role. As a result Mumbai Indians not only dropped more than 10 catches but gave nearly 30 runs as bounty to South Australian Redbacks. South Australian Redbacks took the full advantage of this school standard fielding of Mumbai Indians and won the match easily by 5 wickets. For South Australian Redbacks Captain Klinger and opener Daniel Harris starred with bat. For Mumbai Indians Malinga and Murtaza bowled well and got 2 wickets each. Murtaza bowled 3 overs and got 2 wickets at the cost of 29 runs. On the other hand Malinga also bowled well and gave only 22 runs for his 2 wickets in his 4 overs whereas Zaheer khan got only 1 wicket. For playing a great and match winning innings for his team Daniel Harris got the award of man of the match. Now owing to this defeat because of shambolic and school standard fielding against South Australian Redbacks Mumbai Indians are in hot water. It is their second successive defeat in the tournament. Now Mumbai Indians have only two more matches to play. So Mumbai Indians not only need to win these two matches with significant margin but she will have to wait for some wonder also to get a place in the semi final. On the other hand it was a second successive win for South Australian Redbacks so as a result of it South Australian Redbacks can eye semifinal spot for themselves by winning their next match in this Champions League T20 2010. |

NFL.com reported the length of the injury, though both Stafford and head coach Jim Schwartz could not confirm in interviews with the Detroit Free-Press. “I can’t really speak” on that report, Stafford told the newspaper. “I don’t really know what I’m going to miss. I don’t know if any.” “We’ve had some good returns from his test that it doesn’t look like surgery is going to be needed,” said Schwartz. “But how much time he misses is still going to be up in the air and we’ll probably know a little bit more on Wednesday.” Stafford, who dealt with left shoulder and knee injuries last year, went 11-for-15 for 83 yards and led the Lions to a 14-13 lead at the half. Replacement Shaun Hill went 9-for-19 for 88 yards and had a touchdown called a non-catch when Calvin Johnson failed to secure the ball through hitting the ground late in the fourth quarter. The second-year pro out of Georgia is scheduled to see renowned physician Dr. James Andrews and will at least miss next Sunday’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. In his 2009 rookie year, Stafford started 10 games, completing 53.3 percent of his passes for 2,267 yards, 13 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. Article © AHN – All Rights Reserved |
Jets Owner Apologizes For Players` Behavior Toward Female Reporter Posted: 14 Sep 2010 04:30 PM PDT Jojo Doria – AHN Sports Contributor New York, NY, United States (AHN) – New York Jets owner Woody Johnson reportedly apologized to a female TV reporter following the alleged treatment she received Saturday at the team’s practice. Johnson, who told ESPNNew York.com Monday that the team will look into the incident as part of its investigation with the NFL, called the aggrieved party, Ines Sainz of Mexico’s TV Azteca and offered an “open apology” to her. The NFL and team officials are looking into a complaint made by the Association of Women in Sports Media against the Jets after Sainz was reportedly subjected to footballs thrown in her direction during a weekend practice at Florham Park, NJ. After the incident on the field, the attractive blond reporter was also reportedly the recipient of catcalls and hooting inside the Jets locker room. Sainz, who attended practice Saturday as a working member of media, was in the Jets locker room waiting to interview Mark Sanchez. An embarrassed Sainz recounted the locker room experience via a Twitter post. She later wrote her appreciation for the “support and concern” and indicated that she already talked to league officials about the incident. Johnson immediately called Sainz after finding about the incident. In a statement, Johnson indicated that he expects “all members of the Jets organization to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.” Team officials said in the statement that the Jets “believe that reporters have a job to do, and it is our obligation to provide them with proper and professional access.” Meanwhile, Johnson indicated in a USA Today.com report that he does not expect the controversy involving Sainz to cause any distraction as the Jets open the season Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens at the New Meadowlands Stadium. Georgia Tech Posted: 14 Sep 2010 04:30 PM PDT Kareem Shaker – AHN Sports Reporter Chapel Hill, NC, United States (AHN) – The dismal North Carolina Tar Heels’ running game is getting a big boost for Saturday’s game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Junior running back Shaun Draughn, the Tar Heels’ second-leading rusher last season, is set to return after sitting out against LSU due to the ongoing NCAA investigation. “(Draughn) has been cleared and will be able to join the team this week as an active participant,” UNC head coach Butch Davis told CarolinaBlue.com. “He’s an explosive runner. He’s one of the leaders on this offense on this team, so having him back is going to give everyone a little more excitement and a morale boost,” said senior quarterback T.J. Yates. The NCAA is currently investigating the program for alleged illegal contact between players and agents and a tutor who may have written papers for some players. Draughn is the first of 13 players to return after missing the season opener, during which the Heels managed just 24 total rushing yards. The Tarboro, NC native was the Heels starter in 2009 until he injured his schoulder blade against Duke, but still finished second on the team in rushing with 124 carries for 567 yards. Draughn was leading the Tar Heels with 692 all-purpose yards and an average of 76.9 yards per game at the time of the injury. Devils Fined, Lose Picks Over Initial Attempt To Sign Kovalchuk Posted: 14 Sep 2010 04:30 PM PDT AHN Sports Staff NY, NY, United States (AHN) – As a result of the finding by Arbitrator Richard Bloch on August 9, 2010, that Ilya Kovalchuk’s initial free agent contract with the New Jersey Devils, dated July 19, 2010, constituted a circumvention of the NHL/NHLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement (the “CBA”), the National Hockey League announced Monday the Club has been disciplined in accordance with Section 26.13(c) of the CBA as follows: The Club has been fined $3 million. The Club will forfeit its third-round draft choice in 2011 as well as a first-round draft choice in one of the next four Entry Drafts. The Club must advise the League of that decision by the day following the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Final in the calendar year in which the choice will be forfeited. Per the terms of the settlement reached earlier this month by the NHL and the NHLPA, there will be no corresponding reduction in the Club’s Payroll Room resulting from the Club fine. Ingram Back At Alabama Practice, Could Return Vs. Duke Posted: 14 Sep 2010 04:30 PM PDT Jojo Doria – AHN Sports Contributor Tuscaloosa, AL, United States (AHN) – Two weeks after undergoing knee surgery, Alabama running back Mark Ingram returned to the practice field Monday, and could see action for the Duke clash Saturday. Coach Nick Saban, addressing the media Monday, said he expected Ingram to be ready for the Duke game. Saban also stated that the situation of the star junior running back is going to be “a little bit evaluating how much he plays relative to how much he can practice.” He indicated that Ingram, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, will get limited practice repetitions “just to see how he gets back into it.” Ingram was held out of the Crimson Tide’s second tilt of the season against Penn State. Alabama flattened Penn State 24-3 behind the 144 yards from sophomore Trent Richardson, who filled in for Ingram in the Tide’s first two contests. Richardson has logged 210 yards and three TD during the absence of Ingram, who hurt his left knee during an Aug. 30 practice. Ingram underwent an arthroscopic procedure the following day. Many believe that Ingram, who set the school rushing mark with 1,658 yards in 2009 as he helped the Tide to the national title, will likely sit until Alabama’s first big test of the season which is the SEC opener at Arkansas on Sept. 25.
