Now mighty Aussies have come to India. Australian team is likely to begin their tour against Board President XI on 25th September 2010. But before this Australian team has started playing mind games here. This is the one thing that Australia has always been famous for. Today during the press conference Australian Vice Captain Michel Clarke and All-Rounder Shane Watson gave lot of praise to Indian bowlers Harbhajan Singh and Pacer Zaheer Khan. Here one thing is to be noticed that in terms of cricket Harbhajan Singh has always forced Australian team to dance to his spinning deliveries. Owing to this he has developed the image of biggest threat in the camp mighty Aussies. As a result of it Australian team always tries its best to get him out of the playing XI by playing dishonest and dirty mind games. So this praise lavished by Australian Vice Captain Clarke and All-Rounder Watson seems to be fully façade and yet another mind game. Australian Vice Captain today said that Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh have always been biggest threats to Australian team. Zaheer is a difficult bowler to play. He has the ability to swing the ball in both the directions. He does it with New ball as well as old ball with equal efficiency on all kinds of tracks. So far as Harbhajan Singh is concerned so he has always made every team dance to his spinning deliveries and specifically against Australia. Both Zaheer and Harbhajan are loaded with lot of paramount experience of cricket. Australian team has always been in the hit-list of these two. Clarke got support in the team mate Watson. Watson said that I believe our vice captain is completely right because these are the two bowlers of India to whom if you give even a slight chance they will pounce at you like hungry loins and gulp you in a moment. So against Harbhajan and Zaheer Australian team can not afford to relax at all. Watson also said that we know that both of them are back in the Indian squad. So we shall have to deal with these two efficiently. In order to deal with these two we will have to come out with an effective plan otherwise we will have to pay a heavy prize of mistakes against them. Although we do not have players like Hayden, Waugh Brothers and McGrath and Gillespie yet we are capable of beating the hosts. But at the same time host India also stands equal to us because they two have players like cricket God Sachin Tendulkar, Wall of India Rahul Dravid, Mr. Very Very Special VVS Laxman, flamboyant Raina and captain Dhoni, Gambhir. But who can forget the most dangerous and destructive batsmen Delhi Dasher Virender Sehwag who is present in the Indian squad right on the top of the front. In terms of bowling also India stands equal to us as pacers like Ishant Sharma, Zaheer Khan and spinners like Harbhajan Singh and Amit MIshra are there. We know that we are here to play against India in India. We also know it that in India beating Indian team is never going to be a cakewalk for us yet playing or tasting success in India will be a good experience for our youngsters, Said Watson. So we will surely play our best cricket in the series against India. |
CSK vs RCB CLT20 Live Score: Clash of Indian Teams in South Africa Posted: 24 Sep 2010 08:23 AM PDT CSK vs RCB The Champions League may not be a huge crowd puller like its illustrious counterpart, the IPL but it is a significant battle point of players who wish to prove their mettle. It is pretty evident from Virat Kohli's frustration after nearly missing out a win against the formidable Mumbai Indians that the CL2010 is definitely important to the players. The organisers are pretty pleased with the progress so far. One of the IPL teams is assured of a place in the final which would certainly evoke greater audience participation than any non-Indian team. Indians' love affair with cricket goes beyond mere words. They go over the top and cross all boundaries to cheer on their teams. Chennai are already guaranteed of a firm support as the winners of the recently concluded IPL but Bangalore would be able to brag as well if they manage a win against Dhoni's side. The history is with Bangalore as the last time these 2 teams met for a semi-final in South Africa, was in the 2009 IPL and Bangalore effectively edged out Dhoni's men but in an unpredictable game like cricket, one can't easily take sides. Both the teams have fared equally in the league phases and have similar batting prowess but their bowling is completely varying. Chennai's strength is its spinners while Bangalore is famous for its pacers. Chennai missed the opportunity of facing quality opposition in Jaques Kallis in their final league match as he's retired with injury. Albie Morkel was also unavailable for the previous 2 matches citing illness but the difference is that he may recover and pulverise Bangalore but Kallis would definitely not be making an appearance giving Chennai the advantage. Friday's semi-final would be worth watching out for. Be sure to be there and support your teams. |
Maryland`s Gary Williams Says Colleges Could, Should Pay Players Posted: 24 Sep 2010 05:29 AM PDT AHN Sports Staff United States (AHN) – Maryland Terrapins basketball coach Gary Williams made an interesting proposal to the NCAA Wednesday, suggesting college athletes receive cash benefits including a monthly stipend. Williams, who won a national title with the Terrapins in 2002, said athletes from revenue-producing sports, notably basketball and football players, should receive a monthly stipend worth $200. The Terrapins coach added the NCAA can easily allot a budget for the monthly pay of these players without compromising non-revenue sports. Nevertheless, he’s convinced he will need a strong support from college coaches and athletic directors for the NCAA to consider his proposal. Williams claimed compensating the players’ hardwork through monthly payments would give them more reasons to stay longer in college and reject indecent offers from sports agents. One of the most respected coaches in college basketball, Williams will join Johnny Unitas, Brooks Robinson, Babe Ruth, ex-Ravens owner Art Modell, and veteran broadcaster Jim McKay in the inaugural class of Maryland Sports Hall of Fame at the Camden Yards Museum. Delhi CWG hosting came through bribing 72 CWG nations Posted: 24 Sep 2010 04:10 AM PDT Common Wealth games According to the claim made by media reports, India bribed a total of all the 72 nations for the hosting rights of the Delhi CWG with a hefty amount of $100,000 each. The 19th commonwealth games are set to start in the nation's capital from the 3rd till the 14th of October. The reports that were lashed in a daily newspaper claimed that India offered huge money to hit the bid for the game hosting, a decision that was put forward in the final presentation that was marked at Jamaica. The reports also said that India offered $125,000 as a kickback amount to Australia. At the final presentation that was arranged at Jamaica, Delhi had already sealed the right to host the 19th version of the CWG, promising all other 72 nations a hefty sum of $100,000 as apart of athlete training scheme if the nation was successful as a bidder. This money that was paid out to multiple nations was however not that big for Australia as it had already decided to vote for India and the sum of money offered was not at all so big for the nation. But this opportunity was great for nations that are small and had the least interest in hosting the Commonwealth games. This way India got the maximum votes and Canada lost during the final polls with a stat of 46-22. Canada, Hamilton had instead offered a sum of $70,000 each for the hosting and hence went about to lose the spot. |

NBA Rookies Pick Kobe As Most Popular Player Posted: 24 Sep 2010 02:40 AM PDT Jojo Doria – AHN Sports Contributor Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, considered one of the most complete players in the NBA, is also being looked up to by majority of NBA rookies according to the results of a preseason poll. The 32-year-old Bryant, selected to every All-NBA Team since 1999, and has been featured in the last twelve NBA All-Star Games, was voted favorite player among NBA rookies. Bryant garnered 38.2 percent of the vote, while two-time reigning NBA MVP LeBron James, whose move to the Miami Heat sparked much criticism, got 10.5 percent. Carmelo Anthony was chosen by 7.5 percent. The 6-foot-6, 205 pound Bryant is a shooting guard capable of playing small forward and has blossomed into one of the NBA’s premiere superstars and leader of the Lakers. Bryant, who became the cornerstone of the Lakers franchise following the departure of Shaquille O’Neal, has led the Lakers to the last two NBA championships. Bryant was recognized with the NBA Finals MVP on both occasions. His latest NBA title finally put to rest doubts that he can win a championship ring without O’Neal. The potent tandem of Bryant and O’Neal produced three consecutive NBA crowns from 2000-02 and earned the L.A. franchise the tag as the team to beat during that span. Though often cited as a prolific scorer, Bryant has posted a career field goal average of 45 percent, which is considered moderate. He is also regarded for his defense, having made the All-Defensive first or second team 10 of the last 11 seasons. Bryant was the first guard to ever be taken out of high school after being chosen as the 13th overall draft pick in 1996 by the Hornets, who later traded him to the Lakers.
