Ehsaan Mani: Spot Fixing Is A Cowardly Assault On The Game Posted: 15 Sep 2010 11:02 AM PDT
Everyone all over the world is dejected at this greed for big bucks of Pakistan players. Latest addition of dejected hearts in this list is Former ICC President Mr. Ehsaan Mani. Ehsaan Mani believes that it is highly sad that this murder of Cricket into the shape of "Match fixing or Spot Fixing" came into light during the Lords test match between England Vs Pakistan. When our sources asked him that are Pakistani players not paid sufficient amount so that they do not take part into this kind of corrupt activities? So at this Mr. Ehsaan Mani totally disagreed and said that Pakistani Player are heavily paid like other cricketers of the world. So there can be only one reason behind this cowardly assault on the game and it can be nothing more than the burgeoning greed of money. Mr. Mani believes that there is nothing bad if someone wants to earn money because it is his right. But at the same time he says that it does not mean that someone should commit such a crime owing to which not only game's reputation is marred but fans also loose their faith in the game as well as in the players. At being asked about the more basic reason about the crime committed by the players Mr. Mani said that some players come from very underprivileged background. So these kinds of players try to get money in order to support their families first. So there can only be one solution of this problem. He believes that all the players need to be taught about the ethics of the game. They also need to be taught about the respect of the game, But at the end of the conference he did not forget to lambast Pakistan Cricket Board. He severely went all guns blazing at Pakistan Cricket Board and castigated its modes-operandi of functioning. He not only called PCB a badly school standard flunked organization but also said that being the Governing Body of the game in the country it must be attributable towards ICC and the game. Moreover, Pakistan Cricket Board has badly flunked in sending an anti-corruption message to its players so that they do not get themselves involved in such kind of activities. In addition to it he also believes that it is high time because perhaps it is the last time when Pakistan has been supported by most of the Cricket Playing nations. So PCB had better get this message and control the behavior of its undisciplined players seriously as early as possible before it is too late. |
Chicago Bears’ Hunter Hillenmeyer announced ‘not fit’ for the season Posted: 15 Sep 2010 03:32 AM PDT This is not a very good beginning for Chicago Bears with one of their major players already on the retired hurt category. This time it's Hunter Hillenmeyer who is the seasoned linebacker and has been announced as injured and not fit for the rest of the season to play on the field. The team gave out the information on Tuesday citing the linebacker out because of issues reacted to concussion. All this started with the third preseason match played by the team against Arizona where Hillenmeyer complained of a concussion due to which he could not carry with and follow his teammates to Cleveland for the fourth and last preseason match of the season. The veteran was very sportive and said that this decision was possibly in the interest of everybody including himself and his teammates and but said that the toughest thing to do was to live with the face that his season is already over and done in a single game. While this is probably in my best interest and the team’s, it is hard to accept the fact that my season is over in one game. |
Brignac`s Homer Helps Rays Top Yankees; Tampa In First Posted: 14 Sep 2010 11:01 PM PDT Jojo Doria – AHN Sports Contributor St. Petersburg, FL, United States (AHN) – Reid Brignac smacked a solo blast into the right field stands in the bottom of the 11th inning, lifting the Tampa Bay Rays into first place in the AL East with a 1-0 victory over the New York Yankees Monday night at Tropicana Field. It was the first homer since July 25 for Brignac, a late inning replacement for the ejected Carl Crawford. Brignac belted a 3-2 offering from Sergio Mitre (0-3), the fourth Yankees reliever that followed New York starter CC Sabathia. The superb pitching by Sabathia, shooting for his major league-leading 20th win, and Rays starter David Price, a 17-game winner, resulted in just four hits for each team. Price, 2-1 lifetime against the Yankees entering Monday’s tilt, allowed three hits over eight innings while striking out four and issuing two walks. Sabathia yielded two hits over eight frames. The 30-year-old hurler, who has never won 20 games in a season, also fanned nine and walked two for the Yankees. Grant Balfour (2-1), the third Tampa Bay reliever that came after Price, took the win after pitching one inning. The opening victory of the current three-game set enabled Tampa Bay (87-56) to regain solo possession of first place in the division, pulling ahead of the defending world champions. New York came into Monday’s tilt a half-game up on the Rays following a disappointing weekend in Texas. Article © AHN – All Rights Reserved |

Cavs Hire David Griffin As Team Vice President Posted: 14 Sep 2010 11:01 PM PDT AHN Sports Staff Cleveland, OH, United States (AHN) – The Cleveland Cavaliers added an important piece in their rebuilding plan Monday, hiring David Griffin as the team’s newest vice president of basketball operations. ESPN correspondent Ric Bucher reported Griffin agreed to assume the post weeks after he declined to be the general manager of the Denver Nuggets. Griffin reportedly rejected the Nuggets’ GM role because it did not offer his desired salary of around $1 million per year, the benchmark contract for basketball executives. Griffin, who left the Phoenix Suns after the firing of Steve Kerr from the general manager post, joined Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant to rebuild a franchise battered with offseason blows. After leading the Cavaliers to postseason contention in seven years, LeBron James decided to take his talent to South Beach and form a gargantuan trio with fellow all-stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Even before James’ departure, the Cavaliers were susceptible to a major overhaul in their front office after losing to the Boston Celtics in the second round. Mike Brown, who led the Cavs to a 127-37 record in the past two seasons and first NBA Finals appearance in 2007, was fired in May. The Cavs also did not retain general manager Danny Ferry and lost VP of basketball of operation Lance Blanks to the Phoenix Suns. Article © AHN – All Rights Reserved |
Defense, Penalties Help Ravens Silence Jets Posted: 14 Sep 2010 08:57 PM PDT Kareem Shaker – AHN Sports Reporter East Rutherford, NJ, United States (AHN) – The Ravens defense gave up just 60 passing yards and New York committed 14 penalties for a total of 125 yards as Baltimore silenced the loudmouth Jets 10-9 Monday night. Joe Flacco went 20-for-38 for 248 yards as the Ravens offense maintained possession (38:32) for nearly twice as long as the Jets. Baltimore ran a total of 75 plays, but found the end zone just once when Willis McGahee gave the Ravens the lead for good with a one-yard run with six seconds left in the first half. The Jets came into the game with a lot of talk to back up behind several big offseason moves and the much-talked about “Hard Knocks” series on HBO. “Hard Knocks” indeed, as the Ravens battered the Jets offense into an abysmal performance. Mark Sanchez went 10-for-21 for just 74 yards and no receiver managed more than 18 yards receiving. LaDainian Tomlinson carried the ball 11 times for 62 yards for New York. Ray Rice had 21 carries for just 43 yards for Baltimore, which hosted the inaugural “Hard Knocks” series in 2001 after winning Super Bowl XXXV. New York (0-1) opens its AFC East slate hosting the New England Patriots Sunday. Baltimore (1-0) visits the Cincinnati Bengals. Article © AHN – All Rights Reserved |
