Finally Lebron James has joined Miami Heat. With this confirmation Leborn James has also joined the likes of Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

Earlier super star Michael Jordan was on the same track but later he decided to not to do it. Moreover, he framed alliance with player like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

In this regard when DLN sources questioned Magic Johnson so he clearly said that he was always waiting for chance to beat bird despite beating him in the college Days way back in the year 1979 during the NCCA Championship Game.

So far Magic Johnson has played for Los Angeles Lakers and won 5 titles whereas Larry Bird has only managed 3 titles for Celtic.

In this regard people like Charles Barkley who does not have even a single title in his lap also threw comments.

Well whether someone comments or not in this regard does not matter as it is a game that never stops and it goes on all the time. Moreover, how many forceful and star players are in the team it does not make any difference because winning the title requires consistently as well as constantly focused performance.

So it will be interesting to see whether super starts like LeBron James, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan win the title for their team or not.

Pakistan Demolish Australia on First Day

Australia vs Pakistan

Australia vs Pakistan

The formidable Australian team was shocked by a ferocious Pakistani bowling attack and succumbed to a measly 88.

It was Aamer who started the ball rolling, literally. Then Asif came with his famous swing and Umar Gul claiming two wickets at crucial points.

Even Umar Amin was not dissapointed as he got his very first test wicket.

Pointing’s calculated risk to bat first seemed very  non-calculated and proved disastrous. 88 is the seventh lowest Australian total in history of test cricket. Pakistan had reached to 64 for 0 by lunch.

The match which is being played at Headingly is dependant a lot on the overhead conditions. Simon Katich was the first to go and then Pointing survived a lbw scare. But the very next over saw Shane Watson being given lbw to Asif.

Gul who replaced Aamer got Clarke out quickly and Asif’s extended spell fetched the all important wicket of Pointing and after the controversial lbw which got Hussey it was downhill for Australia.

Even at this time when Australia were 41 for 5 Pakistan refused to turn the heat down and got the whole team out on the  first day itself.

Australias attempts to get early breakthroughs were not rewarded and Pakistan cruised along easily.

CLEMSON FOOTBALL GETS A BOOST-Kyle Parker joins them for the fall

CLEMSON

CLEMSON

Kyle parker, a regular on the Colorado Rockies decided to return to the Clemson football team. He clarified in a statement that it was the best decision in the circumstances. Although the negotiations would continue with the Rockies, it is sure that he would turn out for Clemson this fall.

It is a great boost for Clemson who are dealing with the absence of two star players, C.J Spiller and Jacoby Ford. Clemson would no doubt be re-energized to defend their 2009 ACC Atlantic Division title. Parker's stats are encouragement itself.

He has hit 20 home runs and an equal amount of touchdown passes in the same year being the only athlete in Division 1 college sports to have done so. He has a staggering record of completing 205/369 passes, holds school freshman record and has 7 back to back games with touchdown passes.

Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney is pretty excited with the development emphasizing it's a plus for the team to have Parker who's a very dynamic athlete to have.

Parker and Rockies having reached an impasse on Tuesday, Parker was only too keen to jump onto the Clemson bandwagon. It remains to be seen whether Clemson can defend their title riding on this high.

Ind vs SL Score Update: Muralitharan was the unchallenged king at the Sri Lanka v India, 1st test

Ind vs SL

The scene of the last series of 2008 was repeated when once again when the combination of M&M unleashed its havoc on India where Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan recorded his 67th five-for which brought Sri Lanka in the commanding position and enforced the follow-on on India and helping him in his endeavor was Lasith Malinga who made it totally a loss battle for India when he gripped both Dravid and Tendulkar under his clutches which left India with a herculean task if they are to remain in a respectable position in future.

At Galle the 1st test proceedings at Sri Lanka v India were contrary to the expectations of the Indian fans and the fear was further confirmed when malinga took the destruction axe in his command and dismissed both tendulkar and dravid in the second Innings too after a partnership of 119 runs which has brought relief to the score of 68/2 after tea..

Muralitharan had already done the damage in the first Innings by bringing down Yuvraj Singh and the indian captain Dhoni after Jayawardene's soft packing off of Sehwag by a brilliant catch.

While Malinga, Murali, Welegedara and part-timer Dilshan kept up the attack for Sri Lanka and Sangakkara, it was Yuvraj singh from India who kept up the show for the audiences in the stands with his amazing strokes and massive hits but in the end its was Murali's tyranny which prevailed at Galle.

Roy Oswalt

The Phillies who have been going through a dreadful patch have yet again lost for a 5th time in the six games. Phillies though are in talks with Astro for the transfer of Oswalt who the phillies think might be the trump card needed to change their fortunes.

But decisions have to be made on both sides as Oswalt decides whether he would want to leave his preffered team for Phillies and the Phillies introspect whether they can actually afford to buy Oswalt whose price may just reach $18Mn in the year 2011. Oswalt also has a full no-trade clause and hence is approval is very necessary.

To add woes to the Phillies injury, their player Moyer is also now injured after straining his left elbow.

Native Weir Seeks Canadian Open Crown

Tom Edrington – AHN Sports Reporter

Toronto, ON, Canada (AHN) – It will be easy to spot Mike Weir when the first round of the Canadian Open begins Thursday at the St. George Golf and Country Club.

Just follow the crowds.

Weir, the former Masters champion and a hero in his native Canada, will be paired with Sean O’Hair and Fred Couples, which should create an even bigger following for his first two rounds.

O’Hair comes in after a solid performance at the Open Championship in St. Andrews. Couples is skipping this week’s Senior British Open and will use the next four days to prepare for the U.S. Senior Open that is being played outside his hometown of Seatttle.

Couples is the Senior Open’s honorary chairman and his obligations kept him close to home and his chose this week to play in Toronto rather than travel overseas.

The field this week is not packed with name players. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are not here, nor is Lee Westwood but that doesn’t mean there won’t be some solid names on the course.

Paul Casey, who contended at the Open Championship until the gorse on the 12th hole ended his hopes of chasing Louis Oosthuizen, is at St. George’s as is Luke Donald, Tim Clark and Retief Goosen, who played well at St. Andrews.

St. George’s will provide the field with a solid challenge.

The course demands accuracy off the tee and with the 486-yard par four 17th and 477-yard par four 18th as the finishing holes, the tournament could be decided down the stretch.

There’s also one famous footnote for this national championship of Canada.

It’s the tournament Jack Nicklaus never won.

Top French Footballers In Sex Scandal

Posted: 21 Jul 2010 08:17 AM PDT

Tanuja Masand – AHN News Contributor

Paris, France AHN – Top French footballers Frank Ribery and Karim Benzema were in big trouble Tuesday after being accused of having sex with an under-age prostitute. Even as reports came in that magistrates were seriously cracking down on an alleged celebrity vice racket, officials said this was only the beginning of the travails of the two renowned footballers. There could be a trial and, if found guilty, the duo could be sent behind bars for three years and penalized $58,000.

It was the worst possible humiliation for Ribery, who plays in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich, as he was produced before the investigating magistrate at the Palace of Justice in Paris in handcuffs. He was freed after the hearing.

Ribery is accused of having sex with an 18-year-old woman, Zahia Dehar. Although the footballer has never denied having paid for sex with Dehar, his lawyer, Sophie Bottia, says the celebrity player had no idea in 2008 that the girl was under-age.

“There’s not a single element of physical proof. This woman told them she was of age, was all made up, dressed up, appeared very switched on,” Bottai was quoted as telling the local media.

The 27-year-old Ribery was a member of the team that made a premature exit at the World Cup in South Africa that concluded recently.

The counsel for Benzema, who plays in the Spanish League for Real Madrid, was not available for comment.

Lehman Heads British Senior Open Field

Posted: 21 Jul 2010 07:59 AM PDT

Tom Edrington – AHN Sports Reporter

Carnoustie, Scotland, United Kingdom (AHN) – It was a remarkable performance for Tom Lehman at St. Andrews last week.

Lost in the excitement of Louis Oosthuizen’s march to victory was the fact Lehman shot rounds of 71-68-75-79 for a 4-under par 284, finishing ahead of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in the process.

Lehman, the reigning Senior PGA champion will be the favorite when play begins in the over-50 version of the Open Championship Thursday at the famed Carnoustie Golf Links.

Carnoustie, often referred to as “Car-nasty” is the most difficult of the course in the Open Championship rota.

Perhaps the most memorable collapse occurred when Jean van de Velde had his 72nd hole disaster that cost him the 1999 championship.

Lehman, a former Open champion, has the game for Scotland but he will also have worthy challengers.

Loren Roberts has found the senior British to his liking with victories in 2006 and 2009. Tom Watson is always a contender. He claimed titles in 2005 and 2007.

Mark Calcavecchia was in the hunt at St. Andrews last week after opening rounds of 70 and 67 but fell apart on the weekend, shooting 77-80.

Sir Nick Faldo is in this week’s field as is former U.S. Open champion and current U.S. Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin.

The only notable player missing is Freddie Couples, the top player on the Champions Tour.

Couples will be competing in the Canadian Open starting Thursday and has been busy with his duties as honorary chairman for next week’s U.S. Senior Open outside his hometown of Seattle.

Spain Keen To Bid On 2018 FIFA World Cup

Posted: 21 Jul 2010 07:59 AM PDT

Tanuja Masand – AHN News Contributor

Madrid, Spain TANUJA MASAND (AHN) – World football champion Spain, enthused by its success at the recently concluded World Cup in South Africa, is eyeing a joint bid with Portugal for the 2018 . Speaking to the media after addressing the Spanish Football Federation’s General Assembly on Tuesday, the Secretary of State for Sports, Jaime Lissavetsky, said Spain’s next challenge was to host the 2018 World Cup.

Only once in the history of world football have two countries co-hosted the World Cup. In 2002, Japan and South Korea jointly hosted the event, which was incidentally the first time the quadrennial grand spectacle came to Asia. Brazil won the bid to host the 2014 World Cup not so long back, beating a powerful United States bid.

Among the other countries preparing to bid for the global event are Belgium, the Netherlands, England and the U.S. Russia and Australia are concentrating on the 2022 World Cup bid. The International Football Federation (FIFA) will choose the 2018 hosts at a meeting of their executive committee on Dec. 2.

Meanwhile, RFEF Chairman Angel Maria Villar said Spain and Portugal were definitely in the race for 2018, but it was a dicey situation given the fact that Spain had hosted the event as early as in 1982 and their bid could meet with stiff opposition from other bidding nations. He added that if Spain lost out on the bid for 2018, it would renew its bid for 2022.
