Win McMurry, Golf Channel reporter, errs while talking about Tiger Woods’ disk problem

Posted: 10 May 2010 11:54 AM PDT

Win McMurry, Golf Channel reporter created a gaffe when she mistakenly replaced 's' with a 'c' while discussing Tiger Woods withdrawal from The Players Championship last round due to suffering from a bulging di's'k.

McMurry erred by saying that “(Woods) says he’s been playing with a bad neck for about a month and thinks it could be a bulging dick.” Though afterwards she was quick to correct her mistake.

Woods stated that he plans to get an MRI done next week and he had felt the injury just before the Masters. This withdrawal is the first from the champion whose last withdrawal was in 2006 at the Nissan Open at Riviera. This is Woods' third tournament after coming from his five month break.

Win McMurry was part of WCBS and CBS in 2005 and had covered NFL, PGA Tour, Basketball and NCAA Football. This goof up has become the talk of the internet now.

Madrid, Spain (AHN) – It wasn’t easy, but world No. 1 Serena Williams battled through a grueling 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 win over Vera Dushevina of Russia to advance to the third round of the Madrid Open Monday.

Serena may have been bothered by her perpetual thigh and back problems, forcing her to leave the court down 3-2 in the first set and return with her right thigh wrapped.

Williams persevered against world No. 43 Dushevina, who looked poised for the upset but couldn’t overcome Serena’s experience.

Serena lost the first set, but won the next two in a tiebreak to avoid the same fate as top-ranked players Justine Henin, Maria Sharapova and Svetlana Kuznetsova, who have all been eliminated.

Williams returned from a three-month knee injury hiatus at the Italian Open last week, but was bounced by Jelena Jankovic in the semi-final.

In the men’s first round, qualifier Oleksandr Dolgopolov will face Rafael Nadal after ousting Italy’s Andrea Seppi 6-3 6-4.

Jurgen Melzer beat South African qualifier Kevin Anderson 6-2 2-6 6-4. Twelfth-seeded Gael Monfils of France beat fellow countrymen Stephane Robert 6-2 7-5.

ICC T20 World Cup ResultPakistan vs. South Africa : Pakistan defeated South Africa by 11 runs making the South Africans consistent with their titles of chokers and eliminating them from the t20 world cup.

Batting first Pakistan scored a healthy total of 148/7 helped by fine knocks from Umar Akmal who scored 51 and Kamran Akmal scoring 37. Pakistan were also helped by a crucial knock of 30 from captain Shahid Afridi. The score for Pakistan would have been more if Langeveldt wouldn't have had two strikes in the 17th over.

The South African chase was pretty shoddy with only De Villiers scoring 53. Rest of the batsmen either fell for an early two digit figure or for a single digit score. The bowling of Pakistan was up to the mark with the spinners keeping the fort. Ajmal took 4 wickets for the team.

Loss in this Pakistan vs. South Africa t20 world cup encounter leaves the South Africans out of the tournament and Pakistan back in the fray for the semi final spot. Do catch the live scores of the matches on our website for the t20 world cup match for the further games.

Bieksa Powers Canucks Into Game Six With Pair Of Goals

Posted: 10 May 2010 08:11 AM PDT

Chicago, IL, United States (AHN) – The Vancouver Canucks did not count on Kevin Bieksa’s offense this season, but they would not be headed into game six of the Western Conference semifinals without it.

The Grimsby, Ontario, native scored two goals and added an assist as the Canucks toppled the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 Sunday.

Bieksa nearly matched his regular season total of three goals, in 55 contests, in just one postseason game.

Bieksa, 28, enjoyed a brilliant outing with a late first period tally off assists by Kyle Wellwood and Mikael Samuelsson.

Bieksa added his second goal with seven minutes left in the second period, giving the Canucks a three-goal cushion.

He wasn’t finished there, recording an assist as Alex Burrows iced the contest with an empty-netter with 45 ticks left.

It was hard to believe the Canucks season would end without more fireworks, and thanks in part to Bieksa it won’t.

Game 6 is set for Tuesday night in Vancouver, where the Canucks hope to push the series into a game seven Thursday in Chicago.

Vancouver has reason to believe it can still win the series, and with Bieksa it has another weapon in its arsenal.

Eng vs NZ ICC T20 Live Score: New Zealand Takes on England to Keep Their Semifinal Hopes Alive

New Zealand vs England

New Zealand vs England

New Zealand is all set to clash with England in the super eights of the ICC world cup T20 in West Indies. The former is in need of a victory in order to carry themselves to the next round, with England in a better position having beaten Pakistan and South Africa in their last matches.

The New Zealand vs England outcome is expected to clarify the top four possibilities as well as the net run rate figures. After the narrowest win against Pakistan and defeat at the hands of South Africa, the Kiwis need some consolation in the form of a victory to keep the chances alive. England on the other hand, has posed convincing wins over both, and is riding high on confidence.

The runfriendly pitch at Beausejour is expected to delight the batsmen, and with a reliable batting order and spinners like Graeme Swann and Michael Yardy, and capable seamers, England is said to possess a balanced squad. However the absence of Kevin Pietersen hardly seems to be compensated. New Zealand is sure to take advantage of this gap in their favor.

The New Zealand vs England encounter is expected to show off power plays from men like Brendon McCullum, Jesse Ryder, and Craig Kieswetter.

Mariners Offense Finally Comes Alive In Win Over Slumping Angels

Posted: 10 May 2010 03:39 AM PDT

Kareem Shaker – AHN Sports Reporter

Seattle, WA, United States (AHN) – Part of the reason the Seattle Mariners have won just two of their last 10 games is the league’s second-worst offense in terms of runs scored.

Sunday, one day after firing hitting coach Alan Cockrell, that offense finally came alive in an 8-1 thrashing of the Los Angeles Angels, also struggling with losses in eight of their last 10 games.

Shortstop Josh Wilson led the way, going 3-for-3 with a three-run jack for the Mariners, who have dropped to the AL West gutter despite starting the season 10-9.

Franklin Guterriez, Ryan Langerhans and Michael Saunders each had two RBI. Adam Moore also knocked in a run.

Angeles starter Ervin Santana got shelled for five runs in 6.2 innings. Los Angeles scored its lone run on strike three wild pitch with Kendry Morales at the plate.

The Angels (14-19) are off to their worst start since the 2006 season, when they finished 83-79 and missed the playoffs for just the third time in the past eight seasons under Mike Scioscia.

Seattle (12-19) trails the first-place A’s by 5.5 games in the AL West.
