MEK Hussey of Australia became the key-player for the match. He scored 60 runs in only 24 balls (including 3 fours & 6 sixes). First, Pakistan gave a huge target of 191 runs for 6 wickets to the rival but Australia made 197 runs for the loss of 7 wickets with 1 bowl remaining. So, now Australia would play the final match against England tomorrow.

Final Words: Australia as usual became the winner of the 2nd Semi-final live cricket and easily accessed a way for the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2010. Pakistan team too performed very well in batting as they terrifically scored a huge target but their batting order did not show some miraculous performance. Bad luck for the Pakistan team as they lost the chance to enter in the final of ICC Tournament. Congratulations to Australians!

Bruins-Flyers Set To Face Off In Epic Game 7

Boston, MA, United States (AHN) – The sports world will be focused on TD Garden in Boston Friday night as the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers face off in a winner-take-all Game 7 showdown to decide the Eastern Conference Semifinal series (7 p.m., ET, VERSUS, TSN, RDS).

The winner of Friday’s game between the sixth-seeded Bruins and seventh-seeded Flyers will advance to the Eastern Conference Final and have home-ice advantage against the #8 seed Montreal Canadiens.

The Flyers will attempt to complete the monumental comeback that has been achieved just twice in NHL history — to win a best-of-seven series after losing the first three games.

The Toronto Maple Leafs overcame an 0-3 deficit to defeat the Detroit Red Wings in the 1942 Stanley Cup Final and the New York Islanders did the same against the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 1975 quarterfinal series.

Such a comeback is a rarity in the NHL — the two successful clubs represent just 1.2 percent of the 161 clubs that have attempted it — as well as in the other major professional sports leagues.

.Just one club in the history of Major League Baseball has done it, the Boston Red Sox in 2004 against the New York Yankees, and no club in the National Basketball Association has accomplished the feat.

The Bruins, meanwhile, are in quest of their first berth in the Conference Finals since 1992. They will take to the TD Garden ice exactly one year after hosting Carolina in Game 7 of their 2009 Conference

Semifinal series, won by the Hurricanes on an overtime goal by Scott Walker.

Bruins forward Mark Recchi, 42, will be making his eighth career Game 7 appearance, the most among players on both clubs. Neither starting goaltender, rookie Tuukka Rask for the Bruins and Michael Leighton for the Flyers, has appeared in an NHL seventh game.

The Norris Trophy-winning ‘twin tower’ defensemen in the series, Boston’s 6-9, 255-lb. Zdeno Chara

and Philadelphia’s 6-6, 220-lb. Chris Pronger, are a combined 1-9 in Game 7s (Chara 0-4, Pronger 1-5).

The Bruins trailed less than 1% of the time in their victories (1:39 out of 193:52 in Games 1-3), while the Flyers trailed just under 2 percent of the time in their wins (3:29 out of 194:40 in Games 4-6).

Overall, 132 playoff series have gone to seven games since the NHL introduced the best-of-seven format in 1939. The home team has won 80 (.606), although road clubs are 3-0 in the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs and 8-4 since 2008.

USA Submits Bid To Host World Cup In 2018 Or 2022

Posted: 14 May 2010 09:41 AM PDT

AHN Sports Correspondent

Zurich, Switzerland (AHN) – Under much pomp and ceremony the USA have submitted their official bid to host the 2018 or 2022 World Cup to FIFA President Sepp Blatter in Zurich.

The US bid book and supporting video were submitted, alongside those of its opponents in the bidding process, namely England, The Netherlands and Belgium (joint), Russia, Spain, Portugal, Australia, Qatar, Belgium, Japan and Korea (joint).

The right to host the month-long event is highly sought from both a financial and prestige position, with the tournament providing a massive boost to a nation economy in tourism and exposure.

It is thought that, given the 2010 tournament is being held in South Africa and Brazil are hosting in 2014, the 2018 event will go to a European nation.

With that in mind, the US bid team is focusing its attention on the 2022 tournament, although it remains hopeful of securing the tournament four years earlier.

England, which last played hosts in 1966, are the favourites to win the 2018 event, will face fierce competition from Spain and Russia who have never hosted.

The United States last hosted the World Cup finals in 1994, with Brazil defeating Italy on penalties in the final.

Nuggets Coach Karl Intends To Return For 2010-11 Season

Posted: 14 May 2010 09:31 AM PDT

AHN Sports Staff

Denver, CO, United States (AHN) – George Karl made clear Thursday his intention to return to coaching the Denver Nuggets next season after overcoming a serious battle with neck and throat cancer this spring.

The 59-year-old Karl survived from neck and throat cancer after undergoing several medical therapies since the all-star break.

Karl said he's feeling better and excited to return to the Nuggets bench next season.

The veteran coach underwent intensive chemotherapy sessions, which resulted in several blood clot scares last month.

Karl appreciates also the support shown by the entire Nuggets organization and their passionate fans.

Despite successful chemotherapy procedures, Karl has still been dealing with the effects of intense exposure to radiation such as fatigue, weight loss, and too much saliva in his mouth.

Karl is still fed through a tube and takes a slim diet composed of ice cream and a slice of peach.

However, Karl said he's recovering well in the past few weeks, as he continues to attend medical check-ups and take medicines regularly.

After announcing his health condition after the all-star break, Karl left the coaching duties to interim coach Adrian Dantley.

Dantley, an NBA legend, had a hard time filling Karl's shoes as the Nuggets failed to sustain early success and stumbled to a 53-29 record – fourth seed in the West.

The Nuggets eventually lost their opening round playoff series to the Utah Jazz in seven games, marking their fifth first round exit in six seasons.

Battle Tested Sharks, Blackhawks To Meet In Western Conference Finals

Posted: 14 May 2010 08:09 AM PDT

AHN Sports Staff

NY, NY, United States (AHN) – The top-seeded Sharks defeated the Colorado Avalanche in six games in their Western Conference Quarterfinal series. San Jose came back from 1-0 and 2-1 series deficits through a tension-filled first four games before busting out with a lopsided victory in Games 5 and then pulling out Game 6.

With their top-liners stymied, the Sharks followed the lead of a second line centered by Joe Pavelski, who scored three pivotal goals among his series-leading five.

The Sharks then dispatched the two-time defending Western Conference champion Detroit Red Wings 4-1 in the Conference Semifinals. Each Sharks win was a one-goal decision, coming in a variety of ways.

They jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead and held on for a 4-3 win in Game 1, staged a two-goal, third-period rally to win by the same score in Game 2 and gained a stranglehold on the series by overcoming a two-goal deficit in the third period of a 4-3 overtime win at Detroit in Game 3. Joe Thornton led the Sharks in scoring with eight points (three goals, five assists).

The second-seeded Blackhawks defeated the Nashville Predators in six games in their Western Conference Quarterfinal series. Rallying from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits in the series, the 'Hawks rode two Antti Niemi shutouts to get even through four games.

They took their first lead in the series with a wild Game 5 victory in which they needed a Patrick Kane shorthanded goal with 14 seconds left in regulation to get to overtime, where Marian Hossa scored upon emerging from the penalty box.

Chicago settled down to salt away the series upon emerging from a dizzying first period of Game 6 with a 4-3 lead.

For the second consecutive year the Blackhawks posted a six-game series victory over the Vancouver Canucks in the Conference Semifinals, clinching the series one year to the day after doing so in 2009.

Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews was the series’ dominant figure, leading all scorers with 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in six games, highlighted by a five-point performance (3-2–5) in a 7-4 win at Vancouver in Game 4.

The Blackhawks’ 6-3, 246-lb. forward Dustin Byfuglien was a fixture in front of the Vancouver goal, tallying four goals to match Toews for the club goal-scoring lead.

Series Storylines

Regular-season series: Chicago won three of the four regular-season meetings, two in overtime, outscoring the Sharks 17-11. Defenseman Duncan Keith led all scorers with seven points, all assists, and RW Troy Brouwer tallied 3-2–5, was +5, scored one overtime goal and helped set up the

other. Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov went 1-1-2 with a 3.78 GAA for the Sharks, while Cristobal Huet was in the ‘Hawks net for all four games, posting a 3-1 record and 2.73 GAA.

Unfamiliar Foes: The Sharks and Blackhawks have never met in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, nor have any current Sharks or Blackhawks faced the other in the postseason. Blackhawks starting goaltender Antti Niemi has never faced the Sharks in regular-season play either.

Popular in Both Markets: Sharks GM Doug Wilson is one of the most popular figures in the history of both franchises. A first-round draft choice (sixth overall) by the Blackhawks in 1977, Wilson played 14 seasons in Chicago and still ranks as the club's highest scoring defenseman in points (779, fifth overall), goals (225, 12th overall) and assists (554, third overall).

Wilson ranks fifth all-time in games played (938) for Chicago. In addition, he led all Blackhawks defensemen in scoring for nine consecutive seasons (1981-82 through 1989-90) and captured the Norris Trophy as the League’s top defenseman in 1981-82 when he tallied 39 goals and 85 points — still Blackhawks single-season records for goals and points for a defenseman.

He represented the Blackhawks in seven All-Star Games and was inducted into the Chicago Sports Hall of Fame in September 1999.

Acquired by San Jose from Chicago just before the Sharks’ inaugural season (1991-92), Wilson brought instant credibility to the fledgling franchise. Highlighting Wilson’s two-year playing tenure in San Jose:

serving as the franchise's first captain, being the team's first representative in the All-Star Game (1991-92) and playing in his NHL-milestone 1,000th game.

Wilson joined the Sharks front office in 1997 as director of pro development and was named GM prior to the 2003-04 season.

Pak vs Aus ICC T20 Live Semifinal: Australia Meets Pakistan for a Spot in The Final Showdown :

Australia vs Pakistan

Australia vs Pakistan

Australia takes on Pakistan in the second semifinal of the ICC T20 world cup in St. Lucia to ensure a ticket into the final. The Aussies have so far shown a terrific form by winning all the matches played, while Pakistan has been quite inconsistent in displaying their talent.

Australia has the odds in their favor, especially while considering their ability to successfully handle high pressure encounters. Their bowling attack is highly impressive with the likes of Dirk Nannes, Shaun Tait and Mitchell Johnson. A reliable and consistent batting order also provides the team a clear edge over the opponents. On the other hand, Pakistan with few wins to their credit has shown a swinging form until now and would definitely want to rectify their weaknesses. At the same time, they are a team capable of securing miraculous outcomes. After all there has been considerable improvement in their performance in the previous two games. Hopes are pinned to the team's spin bowling led by Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman and skipper Afridi himself.

The Australia vs Pakistan clash is scheduled in a slow pitch conducive for spin bowling, but it needs to be seen to what extent the latter's spinners can match the Australian pace.

University Of Florida Cornerback Bushell To Transfer

Posted: 14 May 2010 05:19 AM PDT

AHN Sports Staff

Gainesville, FL, United States (AHN) – Redshirt sophomore cornerback Adrian Bushell announced Thursday his plans to transfer from University of Florida after one season with the Gators.

Reports indicated Bushell decided to transfer from the school after not having enough action as backup cornerback with the Florida Gators.

Bushell, a graduate of Desoto High School in Texas, reportedly had off-the-field trouble that forced him to leave Florida.

College followers believe Bushell's departure will diminish Florida's depth at the cornerback position.

Cornerback Janoris Jenkins is considered a shoo-in starter, but the other starting role will likely be given to senior Moses Jenkins, who missed two seasons with back injuries.

Bushell, who recorded 14 tackles and an interception, remains undecided where to transfer.

Vickers To Miss Race With Undisclosed Medical Diagnosis

Posted: 14 May 2010 05:18 AM PDT

Edward Lewis – AHN Sports Reporter

Dover, DE, United States (AHN) – Due to a diagnosis of a recent medical condition, Red Bull Racing Team officials announced that Brian Vickers will not compete in this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway.

According to the team, the 26-year-old driver of the No. 83 Red Bull Toyota was hospitalized Wednesday evening and continues to undergo testing and further evaluation.

“Our main concern right now is with Brian and his health and recovery”, said Jay Frye, RBRT General Manager and Vice President. “All things are looking good at the moment; this is just a minor setback.”

During Vickers’ absence, veteran driver Casey Mears will drive the No. 83 entry.

Mears was scheduled to drive the No. 36 Chevrolet for Tommy Baldwin Racing this weekend, but is not contractually obligated to the manufacturer so Johnny Sauter will be in the No. 36 Chevrolet at Dover.

“It is unfortunate that I will not be able to participate in the Dover race. Casey is a good friend of mine, and I know he will do his best for the #83 team this weekend,” said Vickers in a statement.

Vickers currently ranks 20th in the Cup points standings and is 160 points out of the 12th Chase qualifying position, but missing a start will almost certainly make it impossible for him to make the Chase this season.
