Boston Celtics vs Cleveland Cavaliers Live: To show off Shaquille O Neal Talent Again Posted: 11 May 2010 01:12 PM PDT Cleveland vs Boston The Boston Celtics vs Cleveland Cavaliers to be played on Sunday would again see a continued dependance on Shaquille O’Neal by Cleveland as in the previous games of the NBA Eastern Conference semifinal series. The Boston Celtics vs Cleveland Cavaliers last game had O’Neal removed ffom the game following a fifth foul. However, his omission proved costly for the Cavaliers as the scoreboard could not move much in their favor, eventually losing the game. Moreover, his replacement J.J. Hickson and Anderson Varejao could not attack the opponent's defense as successfully. Also, six of Celtics players had fouls against him, though he chose not to return back to the court after the removal. Coach Mike Brown's decision had surprised even LeBron James, and the Celtics coach Doc Rivers commented it surely would be an advantage for his team. Teammate Antawn Jamison confessed that he missed O’Neal's presence as he had a true companion in getting things going. Even though O'Neal was reportedly silent on his omission, it is clear that he was not too happy either. However, it goes beyond mention that his presence and performance would certainly be a trump card for the latter in this clash of Boston Celtics andCleveland Cavaliers. |
Red Wings Look To Return To NHL Elite In 2010-11 Season Posted: 11 May 2010 12:04 PM PDT Detroit, MI, United States (AHN) – Despite clearing out their lockers Monday after losing in Game 5 of the National Hockey League semifinals Saturday vs. San Jose, the Detroit Red Wings are full of hope. "I still think this can be an elite team," captain and defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom told the Montreal Gazette. "We would've been if not for all the injuries we had during the season. Some of the younger guys are getting better too. I still see this team as being one of the top teams." Coach Mike Babcock will be building on his young talent while also adding more depth for next season, particularly on the bottom six. Detroit had five goals from their third-fourth lines, while Henrik Zetterberg, Johan Franzen, and Pavel Datsyuk remained in the top 10 in postseason play. "You improve your team by Val Filppula taking a big step," Babcock told the newspaper. "He's at that point in his career he's got to take a step. You improve by Mule [Johan Franzen] being healthy, by [Jonathan] Ericsson taking a big step." Jimmy Howard, 26, has taken the steps, as the Red Wings star in goal, finishing as a finalist for the Calder Trophy. Howard was not stellar during the playoffs, but gave his team an opportunity to move into the second round after a win over Phoenix in Game 7. “I learned a lot. I learned a lot from watching these guys and how calm they stayed in certain situations,” Howard said. Zetterberg, who collected 15 points in the post season, is already making plans for the upcoming weeks. “The big key for us now is we’re going to have an extra month to prepare for next year, that’s an extra few weeks to rest up,” Zetterberg said. “Also, it’s an extra few weeks to work and prepare yourself to come back faster, stronger and better. It’s been awhile since you really had a good summer to do that.” Copyright © 2003 – 2010 AHN – All rights reserved. |

Aus vs WI ICC T20 Live Score: West Indies Meets Australia Aiming to Raise Chances of Survival Posted: 11 May 2010 10:56 AM PDT West Indies v Australia West Indies takes on Australia hoping for the best, to extend their stay in the tournament and find a place in the semis of the ICC T20 world cup 2010. australia's super form and all-win record offers them a better edge though the host team too has done considerably well in the previous matches. The West Indies vs Australia would see the former desparate for win as it would ensure them a spot among the top four. Having almost assured of a semi chance, Australia too would be looking forward to continue their winning spree here as well. The Caribbeans had just one defeat against Sri Lanka, and the results of other encounters will also play a decisive part, even after a win against the Aussies. They have pinned their hopes on performers such as Chris Gayle, who had a match winning score of 98 against India, and is expected to successfully encounter bowlers like Dirk Nannes, Shaun Tait and Mitchell Johnson. Kieron Pollard would be another player to watch out for. The Australian bowling attack has been ripe with Steven Smith, and their batting lineup is in good form. The West Indies vs Australia encounter is certainly predicted as a clash of the titans and is sure to be entertaining. |

Tiger’s Swing Coach Resigns; Calls Move His Decision Posted: 11 May 2010 10:23 AM PDT Matt Aug – AHN Sports Editor Orlando, FL, United States (AHN) – Tiger Woods’ swing coach has resigned after serving the world’s top golfer in that capacity over six years.
“I have informed Tiger Woods this evening that I will no longer be his coach,” Haney said in a statement via his website, and first reported by the Golf Channel. “I would like to thank Tiger for the opportunity that I have had to work with him over the past [six-plus] years. “Tiger Woods has done the work to achieve a level of greatness that I believe the game of golf has never seen before and I will always appreciate the opportunity that I have had to contribute to his successes.” The move appeared to have come to a surprise for Woods, who said as late as Monday he was still working with Haney. It also increases the tumult in his life, as Woods withdrew from the TPC over the weekend due to neck spasms. Woods has not exactly been on top of his game of late, never getting in contention in Sawgrass and missing the cut at Quail Hollow. Woods, in suburban Philadelphia Monday to discuss the upcoming AT&T National, is expected to undergo an MRI when he returns to Orlando. Haney stressed that he left the ‘post’ on good terms. “As we all know, Tiger has been through a lot in the past six months, and I really believe that given the chance, mind free and injury free, we will all see Tiger Woods play once again like we all know he can,” Haney said. “I wish Tiger well, not only with his golf, but in finding peace and happiness in all aspects of his life. Tiger knows that if he ever needs me in any way, whether it be with his golf or just as a friend, he can always call.” Copyright © 2003 – 2010 AHN – All rights reserved. |
