The 40 year old experienced quarterback has been nursing an ankle injury and had acquainted the Vikings coach Brad Childress that it's not reciprocating well to the medical procedure and cure, according to The Associated Press. He had to undergo the arthroscopic surgery in May after sustaining the ankle injury during the NFC Championship game against the New Orleans Saints. Brett Favre's news of him declaring his retirement has may go against him as he is set to lose his deal of $13million over the coming season which stands null if he doesn't play. The celebrated player has seen really good times in his career when he led the Vikings to the verge of Super Bowl when a badly timed thwarting cost him the game. We hope the brilliant quarterback player Brett Favre has a speedy recovery and rethinks before saying goodbye to the game. |

Phils Slugger Ryan Howard Day-To-Day After Ankle Sprain Posted: 03 Aug 2010 06:32 AM PDT Kareem Shaker – AHN Sports Reporter Washington, DC, United States (AHN) – Philadelphia Phillies slugging first baseman Ryan Howard sprained his ankle in the first inning of a 6-4 win over the Washington Nationals Sunday. Howard is listed day-to-day and only expected to miss a short amount of time for the second-place Phils. “I guess once the swelling goes down we’ll see what happens,” Howard told the Philadelphia Daily News. “It’s just kind of a bad sprain. I just rolled it pretty bad.” Philadelphia (57-48) is already playing without Chase Utley and Shane Victorino as it tries to make up a 2.5 game deficit the Phils have on the Atlanta Braves in the National League East. The Phils are also 3.5 games behind in the Wild Card race. Howard, 30, is batting .292 with 23 home runs and 81 RBI in 104 games for Philadelphia.
