The Dallas Cowboys have defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 16-7 on Sunday at the Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio. The game took place soon after NFL stars Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice were declared to have entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.

The opening match of the preseason seemed special for the Cowboys with Hall of Fame credit as indicted by All-Pro linebacker DeMarcus Ware. “Having Emmitt inducted into the Hall of Fame is special. For us now playing for the Cowboys, it does make it extra special”, said Ware.

The team also feels this to be a small but important step in realizing their dream of becoming the first team to play in a Super Bowl at the home turf. The game also saw Bengal's Chad Ochocinco on the field in golden shoes and he explained that was meant for Smith and Rice as a tribute.

The Bengals had included for Cowboys Owens and Pacman Jones in the team, but the decision did not help them in playing better. However, Owens remarked, “That’s a good start… this game was a learning experience and a stepping stone for all of us. There would have been a lot more interest and a lot more intensity if this had been a regular-season game against them.”

Watkins Glen, NY, United States (AHN) – Marcos Ambrose atoned for a miscue at Infineon earlier this year and now he’s in line to pull off a rare sweep at Watkins Glen International.

Ambrose led a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race late at Infineon in June but lost when he failed to keep pace with the pace car in the closing laps.

Saturday Ambrose was the man to beat from start to finish, leading 60 of 82 laps en route to winning his third straight Nationwide race at Watkins Glen, tying a mark held by former NASCAR champion Terry Labonte.

“This is huge, three in a row here for us,” said Ambrose. “What a great day for our guys. It’s just nice to get some wins for them and hopefully we can do it in the Cup race here tomorrow.”

Joey Logano, who led eight laps, held on for yet another runner-up run, finishing ahead of Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch, who led 14 laps.

“I’m happy with the second place,” Logano said. “This is the first time that I’ve been happy with a second place.”

Ron Fellows, Nelson Piquet Jr., Jacques Villeneuve, Steve Wallace and Michael McDowell rounded out the top 10..

With yet another top-five run, Keselowski extended his points lead to 327 points ahead of Carl Edwards, who struggled on the day.

Power Scores Record Seventh IndyCar Pole

Lexington, OH, United States (AHN) – Even when he makes a miscue Will Power can’t seem to do anything wrong.

Power, the hottest driver in the IZOD IndyCar Series, crashed in the morning practice session, but bounced back later Saturday to win the pole for Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.

“It was a gradual process during my run, but the laps weren’t perfect. My last two laps were similar, but not mistake free. I am very happy for the Verizon team and I can’t thank the crew enough,” said Power. “I made it hard for them after my practice and they had to do a lot of work. I hope we can win this one this weekend. We had a disappointing result in Edmonton, but we are coming back here. “

Power tied the IndyCar Series lead for poles in a season (seven) when he earned the top starting spot for the 85-lap event with a lap of 120.965 mph in the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske car.

During the one-hour practice session, Power clipped a curb in the corner, ran wide into the wet grass and spun hard into the tires at the end of the Turn 1.

Dario Franchitti will start on the outside of the front row.

“The Target car was good today. We had a long day yesterday and we stayed late last night going through all the data to look where we could improve the car. We had it all together today and I just came up a 10h short. I had consistent laps,” said Franchitti.

“I knew it was a big gamble to not use the Firestone reds in qualifying, but if I wouldn’t have made the Fast Six, Chip would have had some interesting conversations with me. That was my strategy today.”

Takuma Sato qualified third and was followed by Ryan Hunter-Reay and Scott Dixon to round out the top five.
