Pak vs Eng Score Day 3: Zulqarnain Haider And Mohammed Amir Temporarily Delay The Inevitable In Edgbaston Test

Posted: 08 Aug 2010 11:58 AM PDT

Pak vs Eng,Pakistan vs England, Day 3, Test Match, ScoreAfter winning the first test match against Pakistan cricket team Pakistan Vs England are once again playing against each other in Edgbaston. In the first test match against England Pakistan faced a crushing defeat, But in the second Eng Vs Pak test match everyone expected Pakistan cricket team to bounce back in the series hard. All the fans were expecting Pakistan to come hard at England at Edgbaston.

But the real story turned out to be something else. All the fans faced the bitter reality of inconsistency in the performance of Pakistan team as a unit.

That's what has been costing them so far in Edgbaston. At Edgbaston somehow Pakistan has delayed the inevitable on day 3 of the Second Pakistan Vs England test match. This delay in the defeat of Pakistan against England has been possible because of brave effort of youngsters Zulqarnain Haider and Mohammad Amir.  Both these youngsters showed some stubborn resistance on the pitch and added 49 runs for the partnership of 7th wicket.

Despite the brave effort of Zulquarnain Haider and Mohammed Amir Pakistan is likely to face a severe defeat in the second test match because Pakistan is following on. So in order to make England bat again they still need 29 runs.

Thanks to some stubborn resistance by Zulqarnain Haider and Mohammed Amir otherwise Pakistan team was tottering at i50/6 at one stage. Then both of them got together and put on a partnership of 49 runs.

By the end of 3rd day's play Zulqarnain Haider was not out on 36 and Mohammed Amir is playing on 14 runs from 103 balls.

The main culprit of putting Pakistan team in this situation is british spinner Graeme Swann who bowled beautifully and scalped 4/23 in his 24 overs.

But the biggest culprit is Pakistan team for their condition in this test match. In this test match Pakistan batting department batted poorly and whole team got out on meager 72 runs. It is the lowest total of Pakistan against England in test match cricket.

In reply to 72 of Pakistan England team made 251 and got heavy lead of 179 runs.  This is turning out to the biggest turning point of the match so far.

When send inning of Pakistan started so Pakistan was looking determined to improve performance and make a fight here at Edgbaston. Once upon a time Pakistan was 53/1 only but after this Graeme Swann took  over the charge and made Pakistan team dance to his spinning deliveries at will and pushed Pakistan on the back foot by claiming couple of wickets quickly.

Now Pakistan has a daunting task of saving the Edgbaston test. But only some miracle can save Pakistan's skin now.

Although Pakistan is in all sorts of trouble and they are likely to loose this test match on day 4 yet some credit must be given to Pakistani youngsters Zulqarnain Haider and
Mohammed Amir who stood tall in front of the loss of Pakistan and win of England and are still fighting in the hope of a miracle.

Although this match will be remembered for a Historical Win of England over Pakistan yet this test match will be remembered for a black incident that has taken place today on the filed when Zulqarnain Haider was batting on the pitch.

This incident has drowned the esteem of gentleman's game. When Zulqarnain Haider was batting on the pitch all of a sudden british fast bowler Stuart Broad lost his temper and he injured Zulqarnain Haider by hitting him with ball needlessly.

Owing to this shameless behavior of he has been reprimanded by the on field umpires.

At the end I guess although Pakistan is likely to loose this Eng Vs Pakistan Test match yet Pakistan is going to gain some very bright players like Zulqarnain Haider.

Zulqarnain Haider has proved it that he has lot of caliber and he can be a great player if he is handled correctly with great care.

But by causing an injury to Zulqarnain Haider deliberately by hitting him with a ball just because he was fighting for his nation and not getting out like other Pakistani batsmen in this Eng vs. Pak test match English fast bowler Stuart broad has really maligned the name of gentleman's cricket.

LeBron James – love for Akron, but Cleveland…?

LeBron, LeBron JamesLeBron James feels much of love in Akron, and this he announces worldwide that he was leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat while he was highly cheered by his hometown – Akron.

James enjoyed his lovely Saturday in Akron while at a State Farm King for Kids Bike-a-thon event followed by 400 children, with each of the bikes saying out loud – "I love Akron."

"Look, he's here, isn't he?" said Cornelius Jenkins, a 34 year old warehouse worker in Akron "So long as he keeps doing stuff like this for the community, I don't have a problem with him at all."

James told all his fans, "You can be sure that I will continue to do everything I can for this city, which is so important to my family and me," before the ride.

But James hardly spoke any love of his about the Cleveland in any of his speech or ad, which obviously broke out anger in the people of the city, making them add him to their hate list.

The upset people out spoke their anger by burning James' jersey on the streets, announcing an open letter for his decision as “selfish”, “heartless”, “callous”, and “cowardly betrayal”.

"LeBron is not a Clevelander," Marcellus Ripley, 43, told the New York Times. "He's from Akron. And I'll support him wherever he goes."

Although James holds a huge support of a group of senior citizens in Akron, and is loved by all in the home city.

On the day of the bike ride, a female senior citizens group held a hand-painted saying, "Thanks LeBron 4 Everything! Your grammies got your back!"

Tiger Woods hits roughest patch in his career: finishes 2nd last in WCG Bridgestone Invitational

Posted: 08 Aug 2010 11:27 AM PDT

Tiger Woods , WGC-BridgestoneTiger Woods is surely not the same champion whom people equated to God when golf was concerned.

He finished next to last in WCG Bridgestone Invitational making a poor record of 18 over 298 in a tournament which he has won 7 times. His shot was 39 shots higher than the shot which won him the tournament 10 years ago.

It has been 7 years since he shot over par in each and every round of a tournament. Tiger's future looks bleak by the day.

This is the worst performance he has given in his entire pro-golf career. The day before he had shot a disappointing 75 and 11 over par and today he ended the day with a resigned look on his face; uncharacteristically relieved for not finishing last, Henrik Stenson acted as his saving grace.

His previous worst showing was a tie for the 4th spot which is way better than his tied 78th position this time round. In his PGA tour career, this ties for the fifth worst result. The other ones being:-

•     79, Quail Hollow Championship

•    78, AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am

•    78, 96 Tour Championships

•    77, WGC Bridgestone Invitational

•    77, Buick International

•    77, 98-Bay Hill Invitational

•    77, 98-Buick Open

Woods at one point of time went from a Double Bogey to Bogey and yet another Double Bogey which is astonishing for a champion of his stature.

He finished the tournament collecting worse statistics as well, having managed just40 % fairways and 48 % greens.

This is his worst performance even compared to the 60th spot he achieved in his first Pro tournament in Milwaukee Open.

Analysing his recent performance, do you believe Tiger would make it into the U.S. Ryder cup team?

Anderson Silva really faced tough competition from challenger Chael Sonnen in the UFC 117 championship fight. Chael kept dominating in the fight for most of the time. But in the last two minutes Anderson showed his experience and won the title through submission.

Before the fight Chael had openly challenged Anderson and promised that he would defeat him. For firs four rounds it seemed as if he will definitely fulfill his promise today. But suddenly Anderson got only once chance and he made the most of it and won.

According to the judges Chael was completely dominant and matchless in the first round. Story of the second round was similar to the first round. In the second round Chael Sonnen gave some nasty blows to the champion Anderson Silva.

At the verge of the second round's end somehow Silva mustered some courage and took Chael down on the floor for submission. But somehow Chael Sonnen was able to get rid of this submission move by the defending champion.

Through out the fight Chael Sonnen was dominating Anderson Silva and he was doing everything to him at will In the third round.

In the fourth round Anderson Silva mustered he astounded Chael Sonnen with his devastating kicks. Due to these powerful and nasty kicks Chael got in trouble and he fell down on the floor. But Sonnen was quick enough to come out of this move.

In this way Anderson Silva won the fight and successfully defended his title against Chael Sonnen.

But at the end of the fight challenger Chael Sonnen protested a lot.  Perhaps he was trying to say that he did not submit.

This defeat broke the heart of the challenger Chael Sonnen. It is only third time in the history of UFC fights when the championship fight has gone so close and ended in the final round,

After loosing the championship fight Challenger Chael Sonnen said that he is highly somber at loosing the fight. Getting a second spot in the competition is always heart breaking because when you get into the finals and so close to your dream title so you always play for the title instead of second slot.

At the end of the fight he openly admitted that this fight was very difficult fight. In addition to it Anderson Silva is a tough opponent to beat both mentally as well as physically.  He said I had a chance to make my own mark but I fell a step short of it.

After wining the fight Anderson Silva told the DLN Sources that it was really a tough fight for him because he was fighting with an injury in the rib. Moreover, his doctors had advised him not to fight.

He said that I wanted to fight because I wish to face Vitor Belfort in the next title defense.

But now there are some rumors that Chael Sonnen may get a chance. But after tasting a defeat in the final round Chael Sonnen showed the spirit of a true sportsman and stated that  "Better and fittest wins every time and this time Anderson Silva was a better and fittest guy in reality." So that's why Anderson Silva truly deserves the title of UFC 117 Champion once again.

Tim Tebow’s Creative New Haircut: Sneak a peek!

Posted: 08 Aug 2010 10:20 AM PDT

Tim Bebow

A Picture of Tim Tebow's in his new 'creative' haircut is doing the rounds soon after LenDale White tweeted it to his followers. The photo of rookie Tebow was aptly captioned-"Loks good ROOK!!!!!!!” by LenDale.

If humor was a criteria Tim would have won the title! Still sporting his beard now coupled with the shiny bald patch in the middle of his head, Tim does look funny.

Partly resembling a friar cut, the new haircut assigned to him by his teammates invokes an involuntary smirk. But it's all done in good fun. Being hazed by teammates is what rookies get to face.

So did the Denver Bronchos rookie Tim Tebow. Hopefully once the season begins this awful look would be done away with. Fans who miss his spikes will have to wait till Tim re-grows his hair!

The bronze was won by a Kazakhstan’s shooter, Olga Dovgun.

Our Indian shooter has not won gold for the first time. She has won it twice at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in the air rifle event.

Tejaswini said that she aimed at delivering her best performance and that she was not expecting the gold medal.

“The way we were training, I thought I would be getting my personal best. I was not thinking about a medal or a world record. Having got both, I can’t even explain how I am feeling right now. It’s just amazing,” said Tejaswini.

“My coaches, including Kazakh coach Stanislav Lapidus, made some plans for me and I am glad that everything worked accordingly,” she added.

Lochte Upsets Phelps In 200M Medley

Posted: 08 Aug 2010 05:59 AM PDT

AHN Sports Staff

Irvine, CA, United States (AHN) – American swimmer Ryan Lochte pulled off the near-impossible Friday, as he outraced Michael Phelps in the men’s 200 meter individual medley at the US Swimming Championships in Irvine, California.

The 26-year-old Lochte capitalized on a strong breaststroke leg to complete an upset victory over Phelps in 1min 54.84 seconds.

Phelps, a two-time Olympic champion of the event, clocked 1:55.94 seconds to capture his first silver of the championships.

After winning the 400 meter individual medley race Tuesday, Lochte returned to the pool with an expectation of facing Phelps in the final stretches of the four-stroke event.

Phelps took the early lead after a strong butterfly and backstroke leg, but his pace suddenly slowed in the final 75 meters.

“With 75 meters left it kind of felt like my body shut down,” Phelps told AFP Friday.

With a great breast stroke leg, Lochte made a nice maneuver at the final turn to pull ahead of Phelps in the last 50 meters.

Phelps, who already captured two gold medals from Thursday’s competition, has been facing conditioning issues after a long hiatus.

For Lochte, Friday’s gold-medal feat marked the first time he defeated Phelps in a 200 meter individual medley event in any national or international swimming competition.

Last year, Lochte took the opportunity of a “Phelps-less” field to win the event in a record-setting time of 1:54.10 at the World Championship in Rome.

`Skins Haynesworth Finally Passes Conditioning Test

Posted: 08 Aug 2010 05:59 AM PDT

Kareem Shaker – AHN Sports Reporter

Ashburn, VA, United States (AHN) – Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth finally passed his conditioning test Saturday on the 10th day of training camp and put on pads with his teammates for the first time.

Haynesworth completed two 300-yard shuttle runs in the required time, the first in 66 seconds and the second in 70.

The 29-year-old was the only player required to complete the test, a consequence of Haynesworth’s much-publicized holdout.

Haynesworth was absent from the team’s offseason conditioning program because he was unhappy with coach Mike Shanahan’s switch to a 3-4 defense.

The Hartsville, SC native failed his first two days of camp and was hampered by a sore knee the remainder of the week.

Haynesworth was greeted with a loud cheer by attendees of Fan Appreciation Day when they relaized he was wearing pads for the first time Saturday afternoon.

The two-time Pro Bowler signed a seven-year, $100 million contract with Washington prior to the 2009 season.

Haynesworth played in 12 games and managed just 4.0 sacks after playing in 14 games and recording 8.5 in 2008.

Former President, Coach Isiah Thomas Rejoins Knicks As Consultant

Posted: 08 Aug 2010 04:02 AM PDT

Kareem Shaker – AHN Sports Reporter

NY, NY, United States (AHN) – Former Knicks president and head coach Isiah Thomas is returning to New York as a consultant under general manger Donnie Walsh and coach Mike D’Antoni.

Thomas, 49, will remain the head coach at Florida International University, where he posted a 7-25 record in his first year.

“Isiah Thomas brings unique experience as a Hall of Fame player, coach, executive and owner, and we believe having him as part of our organization will be extremely beneficial to the team’s success,” the team said in a statement Friday.

“Isiah was helpful to the team’s senior management during our most recent recruitment efforts, including assisting with the acquisition of Amar’e Stoudemire. He will provide valuable insight and analysis of young prospects from around the world.”

Thomas kept a close relationship with owner and chairman James Dolan despite an unheralded and controversial exit.

The Hall of Fame guard’s first stint with the team was marred with consecutive losing seasons, including the worst season in franchise history (23-59).

In addition, Thomas made headlines for a sexual discrimination case and a sleeping pill overdose during his previous tenure to add to the misery.

The new post will not demand much time for Thomas, who will likely be called on to advise in matters of free agency and other player dealings.

Cejka Solves Windy Conditions At Turning Stone

Posted: 08 Aug 2010 04:02 AM PDT

Tom Edrington – AHN Sports Reporter

Verona, NY, United States (AHN) – Winds that gusted as high as 30 miles per hour put a major halt on scoring opportunities Friday at the Turning Stone Resort Championship.

Alex Cejka didn’t mind, he managed the conditions well, shot a four-under par 68 and leads the field with a 10-under par total, 134, after 36 holes at the Atunyote Golf Club..

He found himself a shot in front of Chris Tidland and first round leader Rory Sabbatini. Sabbatini shot a 70 while Tidland had 69.

Omar Uresti, who shared the overnight lead with Sabbatini, shot an even par round of 72 and was tied with five other players including veterans Steve Elkington and Woody Austin along with Robert Garrigus, Brian Davis and John Mallinger.

Sabbatini summed up the day in one word: “Difficult,” he said matter-of-factly. “The conditions were tough out there, there’s no doubt about that.”

Cejka agreed. “I didn’t play as good today as yesterday. It was a bit easier yesterday — no wind. Today the 30 mile per hour gusts made it tricky but I hung in there.”
