Qatar nation has been selected by FIFA's executive as World Cup 2022 host. Qatar is even smaller than Connecticut, moreover there is 130-degree heat, which is a challenge to overcome & Qatar has promised to air-condition their stadiums. On Thursday, Qatar has been voted secretly & the nation has won the hosting bid over other nations such as United States, South Korea, Australia & Japan. On the contrary, Russia has been announced as 2018 tournament's host. Russia has been chosen over nations like England & joint bids by Netherlands-Belgium & Spain-Portugal. FIFA president Sepp Blatter told that, " Football hosting will now go to new lands." On Wednesday, United States has lost for the second time in the year during its final presentation. In 2009, Rio de Janeiro has been chosen as 2016 Olympics host by the International Olympic Committee over Chicago & other nations, in spite of a individual effort by President Barack Obama. In October 2007, Brazil had been selected as 2014 host, & FIFA had started acknowledging bids for the next 2 tournaments in 2009. In 1994, that was for the first time when World Cup was hosted in United States. World Cup 1994 has registered 3.58 million amount of sold tickets. Now United States must wait in any case till 2026, moreover it has to compete with Europe, which is soccer’s financial base. By choosing Qatar, FIFA barred World Cup 2026 bid from China, as the same continent is not allowed to host consecutive World Cups. England didn't have World Cup 2018 vote & it is very defeating for England, which has been considered, as the motherland of soccer. Since 1966, England hasn't hosted the World Cup after winning it for 1966. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov remarked, “There will be no regret for the decision, why not make history together.” So lets hope Qatar World Cup 2022 preparations would bring great results! |
