In the ongoing Ashes series between visiting England and host Australia teams, the first test played at Brisbane was drawn that was not looking possible the way England started batting on day one and got all out on the same day.

Australia made a huge score in their first innings and it was perceived that England team will again be summed up at a small score so that Australia may win that match. But the way England openers batted in the second innings was invincible.

In the five test match series the second test match started at Adelaide Oval on 3rd December. Australia winning toss, and deciding to bat first, could not produce a huge total and were all out by the end of day one itself at a small score of 245.

If Watson, Hussey and Haddin had not made half centuries, Australia would have been all out at a much lesser score.

England started their first innings getting their captain Strauss out at only 1 in the very first over day two. But Cook and Trott gave a solid stable partnership of 173 runs before Trott departed at 78.

England were 317 for the loss of two wickets at the end of day two with Cook playing at 136 and Pietersen at 85 both going great guns to fire big on day three of the game.

On day three Cook and Pietersen gave ahandsome partnership of 175 runs when Cook got out at his score of 148.

England was 351 for three. Collingwood who came in place of Cook made 42 runs before he also took his route to pavilion and England reached to 452 for the loss of four wickets. Pietersen and Collinwood produced 101 runs partnership.

Pietersen not only completed his century but reached double ton mark too before tea. By the end of day three Pietersen was unbeaten at 213 made in 296 balls with 31 fours and 1 six at a fantastic strike rate of almost 72.

Bell was not out at 41and England were 551 for the loss of 4 wickets. England is leading by 306 runs and six wickets in hand. With two more days to go if rain doesn't play much role further as it did on day three by not allowing any play after tea, the match may produce result.
