Ban vs Zim 4th ODI: Washed Away By Rain Completely Posted: 10 Dec 2010 11:08 AM PST
Repeated inspections of ground at frequent intervals finally concluded it with a call off decision unanimously by Match Referee and both team captains. Zimbabwe won first ODI and next two ODIs were convincingly won by Bangladesh. Bangladesh is leading this five ODI series by 2-1. Since fourth ODI has not been played due to rain, fifth ODI to be played on 12th December, Sunday will either give a further lead to Bangladesh or may draw series if Zimbabwe is able to win the ODI. There is a third possibility to it also if like on Friday, it rains on Sunday too and abandons match, Bangladesh will be winning the series by 2-1 in that case too. We have three options of 2-1, 3-1 or 2-2 depending on the mood of weather. Bangladesh squad members were Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Suhrawadi Shuvo, Shafiul Islam, Rubel Hossain, Raquibul Hasan, Naeem Islam, Mohammad Ashraful, Nazmul Hossain, Musfiqur Rahim, Imrul Kayes, Mashrage Mortaza, Junaid Siddique and Mahmudullah. Zimbabwe squad consisted of E Chigmbura, AG Cremer, RW Chakabva, CR Ervine, CJ Chibbhabha, KM Dabengwa, BRM Taylor, P Utseya, RW Price, T Taibu, CB Mpofu, KO Meth, H Masakadza and SW Masakadza. The final inspection was done at 1245 hours local time and it was decided to be called off. Outfield was too wet due to the last two days continuous rain that did not let the match to happen. Bangladesh need to improve their batting lineup if they have to win series and final ODI on Sunday else Zimbabwe may strike back like in the first one day international game and go back home with a drawn series. |
Eng vs Aus ODI Series: English Team Announced Keeping WC2011 In Mind Posted: 10 Dec 2010 11:00 AM PST
That probably is an indication for him to prove his worth to get selected for World Cup 2011 England squad. It is a good news for Chris Tremlett too who has been given a green signal after a gap of two years. Surprisingly Ian Bell was given preference over Ravi Bopara who did play against Pakistan three months back but has got no place against Australia. The team was announced by England's national selector Geoff Miller during the ongoing three day tie between England and Victorian team. Though the team has been selected keeping World Cup in mind, it will be the best performers who will get place in World Cup squad. Stuart Broad is definite to play in World Cup but won't be playing against Australia recovering form his stomach injury. England has a good record of having a winning streak since last winter's South Africa tour win. They have won five ODI series in a row. Andrew Strauss will head the ODI team while Paul Collingwood has been named as captain of Twenty20 team. English team that is finalized includes Andrew Strauss (ODI Captain), James Anderson, Tim Bresnan, Eoin Morgan, Kevin Pietersen, Graeme Swann, Chris Tremlett, Chris Woakes, Michael Yardy, Paul Collingwood (T20 Captain), Ian Bell, Steve Davies, Craig Kieswetter, Ajmal Shahzad, James Tredwell, Jonathan Trott, Luke Wright. |

With every chance of skies pouring down in the evening in Chennai, New Zealand won the toss and Vettori elected to bat on the then dry track at the Chepauk stadium. Indians have till now taken an impossible lead in the series yet and all that New Zealand can do is to avoid a clean sweep. The weather in Chennai has been very unfavorable till now sparing the last couple of days only and Daniel Vettori said he needed to take full advantage of the time till the rains come down. Andy McKay has been beaten down much in this series and the left-arm seamer has now been replaced by Grant Elliot for the final ODI of the series. In the Indian squad Zaheer Khan is nursing a minor injury to make way for Munaf Patel to show his skills this time. By the time New Zealand made 103 runs in 27 overs. Praveen kumar got opener Guptill out for a duck when Parthiv Patel caught him while Ashish Nehra and Yuvraj singh struck well and got 2 wickets each. Scott Styris and Brendan McCullum are given LBW out and they made 24 and 14 runs each for their team. Jamie How was adjudged BWLD out for 23 by Yuvraj Singh.
