Ponting’s Replacement, Usman Khawaja Grins to This

Usman Khawaja even though is behind Ponting by 12,363 runs but this successor of Ponting had a grin to flash when he was questioned about his future credits which could make him a replacement that too a permanent one for the Aussie batsman.

Ponting who had a broken finger was ruled out of the team while Khawaja was picked for the test match in the finals at SCG which will take place from Monday next.

With just 27 matches this young 24 year old batsman from New South Wales has accumulated an average of impressive 51.70 scores.

During the summer term he was put on a stand by and did not make up for any game even though he was a part of the Australian squad.

Unflappability both off and on the cricket field is what he is known for and this Sydney sider born in Pakistan gets a smile on his face in response to the question that in future does he see any scope of replacing Ponting.

In response to this Usman says that Ponting is a great man and a great cricketer both. He is nothing less than a legend and he has only got in touch with him quite a few times. Usman also added that he blindly follows Ponting and even if he was asked to jump off the bridge then he would for Ponting.

Usman in a direct reply to the replacement question said that Ponting has his scores and he is not even near them. He still has a long way to go if he has to match the great player.

ICC allots ranking with India grinning for the best

ICC Durban Test's 96 run knock that brought the team a win also headed VVS Laxman in his career chart to the ninth spot for batting while Zaheer Khan the pace man touched the fourth spot that is his career's best in the list of bowlers released by the ICC rankings.

It was during the second inning that Laxman's   effort played a prime role in the win of India with 87 runs. This also helped the nation mark a level in the 1-1 series of three matches and also pushed him three places up.

The top 10 rank has been for the very first time been allotted to Laxman and this batsman is among the few Indian players who have marked a name in this ranking list with Virender Sehwag standing tall on the fourth rank and Sachin Tendulkar occupying the second spot.

S Sreesanth sits on the 27th spot after he jumped 6 ranks while the top batsmen of SA could not retain their progress and fell back on ranks. Jacques Kallis came down with two spots and is now on the 5th rank while AB de Villiers came down by one and now occupies the sixth position.

Graeme Smith the popular batsman of SA is on the 14th rank and has slipped down by three spots while Hashim Amla also lagged behind by three places and is now on the 12th rank.

Celtics loose to Pistons with Garnet’s injury

celtics, detroitsBoston Celtics lost to Detroit Pistons with a score of 104-92 at the Auburn Hills game on the night of Wednesday. The reason of their loss was the injury of Kevin Garnet who walked out during the games first quarter.

In 17 games that the Celtics have played, this is the second one that they have lost on. It was during the first quarters dunk late that Kevin hurt his right leg but the injury is a minor one as the X ray reports indicate no fractures.

Rajon Rondo the point guard of Boston was also missing from the game which will mark his 6th non presence after he suffered with a sprain in his ankle. 21 points were scored by the Pistons player Tracy McGrady who forwarded the team with a score of 45-37 during the half segment and later the margins were pushed to 16 during the third quarter of the game.

45 points came from Dwyane Wade, 21 from Chris Bosh and 20 were added by LeBron James.

Pistons had a high time with 11-21 while the Bostons only went below with 24-5. Pistons got an advantage of 63-47 during the third quarter with the 5:20 slam dunk of Ben Wallace.

Charlie Villanueva kept the Detroits up with a couple of threes near the end of the quarter. Tracy McGrady hit a three pointer at 2:40 for an advantage of 96-82. Boston got Paul Pierce's 33 points and also eight assists. Pistons got McGrady’s lead during the intermission with his twin free throws.

The Mubadala World Tennis Championship going to be held in UAE Abu Dhabi will see the renewal of tennis rivalries as the top class tennis champs will play the best of the New Year game. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal the no.1 player across the World will be in the major limelight as the champ will get a prize money of $250,000.

This event will also have other top players taking the spot for the huge sum. The opener of Wednesday will be Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis the 20 ranker on the world scale against the 6 ranker Tomas Berdych who was also the Wimbledon finalist for the year 2010.

Another thrilling on field encounter will be witnessed between Robin Soderling the no.5 ranker and also the finalist of French Open opposite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga the world no.13 hailing from France.

In the semi finals the top players like Federer and Nadal will contest with the winners of the two matches that is Berdych- Baghdatis match and the Soderling-Tsonga match. As the defending champion Nadal will be a part of the singles tournament of tennis.

This Spaniard who could not pull through in the 2009 edition and lost the spot to Andy Murray came back to the top spot last year after he gave Soderling a tough time during the finale with a score of 7–6, 7–5.

Also both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have been down right rivals of one another as they are known to fight for the top spot that Nadal holds right now. Federer who was the former World number one lost this spot to Nadal.
