Stanford Beats Connecticut with Moore Missing on her Play Tactics Posted: 31 Dec 2010 05:37 AM PST With around 1000 days and games around 90 it seems that Stanford would mark an end for the winning streak of Connecticut and will instead establish one of its own. With 31 points Jeanette Pohlen added further 9 rebounds and assists were six in number and outstood Maya Moore two-time Player with the Huskies loosing the game to Stanford Cardinal's with a score of 71-59. This was the straight 52nd victory for the team. Tara Vanderveer the coach of Cardinal after the game sent out congratulations to Auriemma and also added that the day was marked for Stanford. In 2008 Stanford was the last to have Connecticut down during the semifinals at the national level on the 6th of April. Auriemma talking about the game said that the victory was actually willful and the team let pass away. As Maya could not play too well this further on affected the other team members too and hence the game was down for the team. Maya made it to many 3 pointers and could not make it to a 1-1 and hence a few easy shots were missed in the process. Uconn was bothered by Cardinal's big line of front which just made it to 33.3 percent and hence outré bounded 38-33. The average winning margin for UConn was 33.4 points, with 88 times beating the 25 teams that are the top31 trailing across the games 3.7 percent. Moore was a disappointment as she is considered as some of the best players. But even she could not manage a victory for the team. |
Laxman talks about his Durban feat Posted: 31 Dec 2010 04:35 AM PST
Laxman also said that Durban is considered to be those places where South Africa holds a lot of control and pressure on the opposition team but this time the play turned out to be good for India and the satisfaction that comes along with beating them in such a situation is even more. The balling as per Laxman was the supreme skill test for Indian batsmen as the conditions and also the players were ideal for taking down wickets. Skills and expertise are the prime part of test matches. Laxman feels that the wickets he played were the toughest of his career. Laxman was the top scorer with 96 and 38 until Ashwell Prince hit a 39. The skills, patience and techniques made him poles apart from the other players. Laxman said that small targets were allotted to each and this proved helpful for giving the best to the game. But he consoled himself with the efforts that banked for the countries win. Situations of immense pressure get the best out of this batsman and he still does not know that what this exactly is but aggression is his gaming strategy which helps him perform through. |

Dhoni wants India to improve for a win over South Africa Posted: 31 Dec 2010 02:43 AM PST Batting, fielding and Bowling are where India still needs to learn and be disciplined as per Indian cricket team's Captain Mahinder Singh Dhoni if it is to win against SA. It was through the Durban series that India settled scores with SA after winning with 87 runs when South Africa was victorious in the first test inning of Super Sport Park with 25 runs around two weeks back at Centurion in South Africa. Now for the three match series deciding test to be held in Newlands on the 2nd of January, 2011 the two teams India and South Africa have made their head. Dhoni talking about this said that the bowling, batting and fielding of Indian cricket team has to be in the perfect shape if winning the series is the goal. Adding further he said that the team lacks experience when it comes to these wickets and winning will be nothing less than a challenge. The team cannot always manage to have it through the usual way and India hasn't won over South Africa in a test match since 2006 and therefore the main motive of the team would be to win. After the Centurion match the question that the team had was that could India manage to snatch 20 wickets from SA to win. Psychologically it is a big impact when the team looses a test match. In Durban the bowling skills from India's side paid off. Dhoni informed that most of the Indian bowlers are not good at flat wickets and are instead swing bowlers. Dhoni jokingly added, “The one thing I’m really consistent at is losing the toss. Sometimes it can be really tough. It’s always good to win the toss so you give your bowlers a chance if there’s something in the wicket.” |
North Carolina Vs Tennessee at Music city Posted: 31 Dec 2010 01:23 AM PST
North Carolina Tar Heels scored a victory over Tennessee Vols at Music City with a score of 30-27 on Thursday at the LP fields. It was during the second overtime that Casey Barth struck a field goal of 23 yard. The game was marked overtime when Bard struck a field goal of 39-yard as per the reviews from officials who said that it was the final game according to the rules. There was a point in the match when Tennessee could have won with a score of 20-17 and 16 seconds on hand just before NC was penalized. The penalization was for exceeding the player limit over the field. As per the reviews T.J. Yates the quarterback of UNC pierced the ball at the last moment fortifying victory. The game extended with Barth and by the end of this UNC hitched their first victory under Butch Davis the coach after a long break since 2001. For 234 yards Yates got 23-39. Shaun Draughn filed 23 for 160 yards and Ryan Taylor for 85 yards had 9 passes. Tyler Bray the true freshman had for 312 yards out of 45-27 passes. Gerald Jones hooked a score of 9 passes for 89 yards. Denarius Moore for 69 yards had caught 4 balls marking a defeat. After 1961 this was the very first meeting of the schools. The series has always been lead by Tennessee ever since they played in the Southern Conference. But this defeat is surely a table turner for both the teams pointing to the fact that every game opportunity is worth hitting on. |
